surely of all the bits on a Nova a loon boot would be the easiest to make yourself. it's not AS difficult as most think, you'd probably spend the same as getting one made up specially in making your own with trial and error :)

Cheers for giving me a heads up people :thumb:

I'll make these for you once there is enough interest, already talked to Burgo about this.

Once there is 5 people wanting them and someone is kind enough to supply me with a decent pannel i can take the mould and start making them.

I'm a little busy at the moment but it shouldn't be a problem by the end of this month ;)

This would depend on what type of lid you would be looking for, is it going to be a lightweight outer skin type, where you would need to use pins to hold it shut or is everyone after the type where you can still use your standard lock and catch?

Think you need to put up a poll on this one lol

How big is a saloon tailgate? anyone got one near me?

The Simps
14-07-10, 10:49 AM
Personally I'd want the lightweight outer skin type to use with pins but if everyone else wants the other type I'd still go with that its its still an improvement.

burgo
14-07-10, 11:21 AM
i can only see it being for track use, well i wouldn't want on on the road anyway so therefore a lightweight one. browney currently has a boot on the bay, ill see what its going for and may buy it purely for a mould

The Simps
14-07-10, 11:32 AM
My bootlid isn't going anywhere soon (lol) so could be used for the mould. I think its straight but I'm obvioulsy not that close to Yorkshire.

milko96
14-07-10, 08:09 PM
I'm easy on which type of boot, as were doing it to loose weight tho, makes sense to do the lightest one...?

It will be alot cheaper to manufacture the light weight outer skin type, then just use some pins to hold it in place.

You also want to check the weight of loon boot hinges :thumb: its not just the lid that weights a tonne ;)

'roughly'

hinges - 900g's each
springs - 300g's each

Having no hinges and it on pins is even better for me as I've got to try and get a gearbox in an out of my boot hole.

Unless you can make FG springs for the boot hinges I dont really see how lol lol (other then using bonnet pins or aerocatches)
