right ive a v6 calibra on an R plate off a guy which i want to get running again. The daft git lost the key  so he got another key and barrell from a breakers, fitted it up and obviously its not working cos of the immobilliser.
i figure these v6's are used in all sorts of things and so there must be a relatively easy way of bypassing the immobiliser???
can any of you help me out please. i'm an average driveway mechanic so i should be able to understand.
thanks gavin

lol been a while. I still hate this red dot thing! fact is though when im mucking on with vauxhalls this is the place to look. :)
Afaik the immobiliser is coded to the ECU.... so you'd need a matching immobiliser, key and ECU.
If that IS the case, your easiest option is to grab one from a breakers yard. Ok you may have to buy the entire loom, but its the simple option. Or, grab the loom & ECU from an earlier non-immobilised engine.

didnt know i had the option of an earlier loom etc. but i'd lose traction control etc wouldnt i?
there has to be a way of bypassing it. its a switch at the end of the day!
just trailor it down to your nearest vauxhall. get key cut and get them to code it in, simples!
^Vaux want about £100?
You cannot by-pass the ecu imobliser. You need matching ecu, keychip and transponder.

I'd much rather give £100 then to screw around with loom and ECU changes.

ditto
I guess, but its only a ecu, transponder and keychip change, no need to funk about with loom or nowt. ECU kits can usually be picked up for £30 if you look in the right places.
Bit of a thread bump though? lol
Only 14/15 days but still! lol
just hunt around you local scrappies for a matching ecu, key and transponder

what if i take the chips from an earlier ecu on the sly when sitting inside a car in teh scrap heap? would i then have a non imobilised ecu? its just something a freind suggested. seems a bit of a job but its free :)
the chips are soldered in iirc.
You only need the no-immob ECU and key from an early cav/cally, mines an M/95 plate with an immobiliser, might vbe wort asking on MIG or clubcalibra

Have you actually rung and asked them? I got charged £45 for coding in a key i had cut at a local key place. (who charged me £5 for the key)
If you have another key and barrel fitted then it's just a case of re-coding! simples!

can you re-code the key or is it a case of once burnt thats it?

A freind of mine had an attempted theft on his astra f, went down the scrappers, bought second hand barrel and immob key, fitted to car, trailered to vauxhall, tech came out with tech2, recoded key, runner, sweet, handed 45 quid over and left.

oh cool. so the keys are reprogrammable. makes life easier that.
