Ok, but my point still stands that you have a set of 4 17" wheels with a posh badge on them, weighing them in probably isnt the most efficient way to line your pockets :p

I had thought this but they aren't worth too much with funked tyres and weighing them in they're gone tomorrow ebay... well who knows

My mate's Dad gave them to me as everytime his X5 need new tyres he just buys them off ebay with 4 decent tyres, he had 12 X5 rims not including the ones on his car

VW owners dont care what stud pattern they are, as long as they're not the same size in any way as the original wheels lol

I rang a local company, with tyres on £3 per wheel :tard:

But they said £500 per tonne without tyres...

A local tyre fitter says £20 to take the tyres off...

This may not be a profitable endevour.

I wonder how much the rims weigh tyreless

My calculations... albeit in my head and I'm thick is making me think i'd break even

alloy wheels are £1000 per tonne here
weighed 4 wheels in yesterday for £36 (2 15s and 2 sxi 16s) £1 per kilo
local tyre bay charges me £2 each tyre to take them off too

Try a different tyre fitter for sure, for £20 I can get 4 tyres put onto wheels and balanced up. I still think you should try and sell them as they are though lol

£800 a ton for clean wheels down here at the moment and yeah, you can get a better deal than £20 to get them off, try offering them a ten pound note. (if you were down here I'd do it for free for you)

I rang my mum and asked if they would be ok in the garden... they wouldn't as it happens after getting defened on the phone. So weighed them in, free money is better if you get more obviously but free money is free money

If you're weighing the wheels in, why pay a tyre fitter to take the tyres off?

Stanley knife right the way around the circumference of the tyre on both sides, then cut the steel banding with an angle grinder. Job done.

Last time I checked it was £800-£900 per tonne for alloy wheels.

fair point but then what do you do with the tyres? Tyre places get rid aswell.
Seems more hassle than its worth really

I agree Andy, and I don't own an angle grinder sadly

my local tyre place charge £1.50 per tyre disposal and then the time it takes, they charged me £30 to strip 14 wheels and dispose of 10 tyres. i then weighed the 14 wheels in for £100 so made £70

Weak! That's took a dive again then! Was £175 p/t for light/mixed last time I had a tidy out. That was no more than 6 weeks back.

I have a big ass ugly Volvo donor to put over the bridge in a couple weeks. Was kinda hoping it would as good as pay for itself lol.

As for the tyres, do as Colin says and stanley knife then then grind through the bead. Don't grind it all or you will end up covered in rubber particles, stink and look like you are doing a one wheel burnout lol.

Even if you care for the wheels you can get the tyres off without marking the rims. Just takes more time. I had to do it a couple of weeks back.
