Considering buying this as a weekend toy but unsure if its a good move as its such an old car and needs a bit of bodywork but has a really decent spec list.

Car is running a 2.0 turbo lump with Apexi mapable management, AVCR boost controller, chargecooler, cams, uprated fuel system and running at about 300bhp.

Also has Konis, 4 pots, lightweight OZ wheels etc.

I already have a mk1 MR2 but it only has a 170bhp NA lump in and none of the suspension and braking components and it would cost a lot to get up to this spec but mine seems in a little better shape body wise.

What are peoples opinions? I think it would be fun until something goes wrong with it

If the shell is that bad, no chance of swapping the bits over to your shell? As you know, mk1 mr2 shells that arnt rotten aint easy to come by.

I say buy it.

Some parts of this shell are better than mine though. Seems to be mainly the rear arches on this one. Cut and shut to make one good shell lol

How much do you think something like this is worth out of interest?

If it's cheap enough then ye but i would much rather have the mk2 shape. They look so much better and arnt slow either for very little money.

Mate has a mk2 turbo and I really can't get excited about it, I see them as donors like Calibra's are to Nova owners :d

Its not mega cheap but it has had a fortune spent on it with the management etc.

Does seem like if you have two, one is rotten on the floors/front end and the other is all rear end lol
Cant get repair panels eather can ya :(

Im not up on mr2 prices, seems a good spec though!

Il also echo the mk2's being gay, really not a fan, yeah they look slighty better and the interiors are maybe slighty better, but nah.

Can get rear arch repair panels on ebay but they are hand made apparently and therefore expensive. I'm sick of cars with rusty rear arches, I seem to be attracted to them having had about 7 Nova's as well!!

lol I remember my brother had some for his, they are indeed hand made, but when he got his it was just the corners iirc, wernt a bad fit, but needed some playing to be perfect.

You know what i think mate, get it bought and keep your MR2 in Grotton as a spare in case it all goes a bit too sideways while youre practicing being DK haha!

No you'd be skilled to keep it there as it's mid engined so it handles more like a top than a gentle pendulum, at a guess, never driven one sideways :p

Oh, Gay. No point in owning a Jap car unless it goes side ways..

Its hard to get them to even oversteer at all, yeah you can kick the **** out when going slow, but never when pushing it around corners.

Even with big gay v6's there preety much 50/50 balanced.

As a mid engine car it should stick better then snap on you a bit more than an FR. Like I said, skill required :p and maybe some brass ones to kick it out in the first place.

Well I've agreed to buy it. Hopefully collect it the weekend after next.

It doesn't have those brakes on now, has some better, lighter 4 pots on.

Also found it it has water injection as well so more things to keep an eye on lol

Think it should go sideways, my mates Mk2 MR2 turbo does it for fun, even when trying to go straight in the lower gears (its does have 450 bhp though).

just read through, then you posted you are having it so I'll keep my opinion to myself! ;)

Good luck with it.

Might as well put your opinion down Craig, I'm interested to hear what people think.

Looks a very good spec Lee. As long as you're not underneath it every weekend be it with a welder or spanner then it's all good IMO.

My mate just picked up one with a smiliar spec, albeit a rev2 shell. They certainly don't hang around!

£3250 with so many spares. We filled his Escort estate and both of the MR2's boots.

Extra 3 piece JDM wheels, brand new Toyos, spare coilovers, downpipe, exhaust, turbo, so many combinations of lights etc.

Talk about a good deal! If the spares are sold properly I reckon there's £1500-£2000 there alone.

Similar price to this one then. Probably a fair price as mk1 turbos are still quite rare.

Lee is a expert with a welder after owning so many novas and corsas! Now get that black thing broken for parts.

I want to see the nova have at least one good outing before its broke
