has been covered but i am still confused:tard:

i have an early 20xe with coscast head, bolts that were in it before stripped were the female touque long bolts with seperate washers, so have just bought fresh of the same.
have just rebuilt the engine and am about to tighten the head to the block but dont know what settings to use?

25nm then?.......
is it 90 degrees, 90 degrees, 90 degrees? or

60, 60, 60 then run up to temp then tighten again??

i always thought the 90, 90, 90 was correct for the older longer bolts?

it is, it should also tell you on the back of the headgasket packaging

I thought male headed bolts were early and female headed bolts were later.

Sbddevelopments.

25nm then 60 60 60

i dont know why your bothering with a new headgasket and bolts? Just use some silicon sealant and tighten them down a further 5 degrees.

do your 25nm and then go around again at 25nm you may find the middle bolt no long at 25nm if you set your torque wrench you can not over torque them.
