I picked up some gold window tint film at PVS for a £5, suppose the bloke couldn't get rid of gold! I thought I'd give them a go on my saloon, but im not sure of the outcome. I was hoping they would be more bronze. Novaboy8 put them on for me, he used to work at a tinting place and makes it look easy!

What do you think I should do:
Leave them on?
Replace them with brown/bronze tint?
Take them off?

Opinions please...

I'm looking at a similar idea for mine so I'd say leave them ;)

I think it looks a bit odd from the front, as the fronts not tinted obviously, but other than that it actually really fits in with the car, almost makes it look like a sepia picture... older than old school! lol

I can't see the pics due to works firewall :( but using my imagination (take note, photoshop requestors) I reckon it works

Sepia! That was what i thought. it took two rolls to do the side windows and we ran out before doing the rear window. so at the mo it looks a bit suspect. I don't like it when my car looks unfinished, especially before a big show like billing. the tints keep the car cool inside though.

I think it looks really good mate, keep em on. No one else has them (that I have seen) and they really suit the style of the car :thumb:

Looks quite period mate. I was expecting a more chavved up 100% GOLD tint but this is a decent alternative to having bronze tint windows.

It suits quite well especially with the gold coach strip and the brown-ness is pure old skool.

Think it'll look even better with it completely finished.

I reckon you could probably get away with it as its not a "dark" tint.

Eh? I knew what car it was, I took a load of pics of it at PVS.

Well only two people of all the above have said they don't like them, an overwhelming majority do. Any other car, I'd probably hate them but they do actually suit that. I suppose you can guage real opinions once people can see it in the flesh next weekend :thumb:

the tints look good mate. they set the car off and give it an extra kinda old skool look to it.

Im going to disagree with the majority and say they look a bit tacky tbh, not a fan at all. If they were a really REALLY light shade of gold then maybe, but at the moment they stand out too much and not in a good way.

However, it's your car and most people seem to like them so aslong as you're happy keep them on :)

Dan Stanley
03-07-10, 03:11 PM
Thanks people. Im going to leave them on for Billing, but I will experiment on some spare glass with some bronze tint after that. i can always take them off with a few hours work. I cant do the rear window until Im happy with the decision as cleaning off the wrong tint could damage the heating element.

Aye, cos they look awesome and are never seen over here.

Never knew Rota ripped them (although it comes as no surprise. lol)

They don't have the dish of an 03 but still look very nice. :thumb:

lol @ MK - nailed on!

So then OP, what are they?

Rota rewinds, I think they were meant to be mx-5. Bought them new off an internet shop/site. Trying to find gold wheels with a polished lip is 'kin hard!
