View Full Version : e16se engine loom
i have a 1.6 8v e16se engine year unknown are the engine looms all the same ? as i bought another loom for my engine as mine was not in good nick and the ecu plug is bigger and some of the connecting plugs are different.
all e16se looms are the same.
the later c16se has 2 different ones.
There are 2 E16SE looms
1 loom for Bosch AFM bosch red cap dizzy and Bosch ECU
2 loom for Bosch AFM Lucas black dizzy and siemans brain
both these looms do NOT have lamda and knock sensor plugs,
The C16SE loom does not have the Bosch AFM and is coilpack with lamda and knock sensor wires.
ok bazil, i have a bosch afm & a siemens box.....my engine is from a 88 gte with a bosch red dizzy
lol it's a hybrid
the only difference in the looms is the ECU plug and but don't quote me on this but the siemens brain loom has the ron plug for the fuel.
I have both setups on original cars, but mowgli I guess your engine is the earlier type with round top cam cover ?
You can mix the bits up but the better set up IMO it's all the bosch stuff.
bazil, mine is definitely factory stock. i bought the written off gte in 1992 & personally stripped it out myself.. yes it is a round cam cover model.
That's good to know that you can run the, what is effectivly a gsi loom on the red dizzy and it works fine if you use the siemans brain.
it's not so easy getting uncut looms now.
hi guys my original engine loom has boch afm, boch ecu, and red top dizzy coded ET 90 320 478, 10.3.88 the loom i bought has boch on the plugs for the afm and ecu, plus a lot of the plugs are not the same code is L9 90 386 165 3.11.89 this will not fit around my engine i think it my be for a astra or cavalier but not for my e16se engine as it was sold to me for.
i borrowed this from another thread but this is a nove e16 loom,

that helps alot, it seems the loom i have bought is the same as the loom in the pic i will have to find a siemens ecu and what is the blue plug that is pluged in to the black plastic at the top of the pic as i am missing 1 of them as well.
my other loom looks like it has been mated with some of the wires from the back of the block and is a mess.
