Why the hell would you want a 50% reduced screwdriver set to fit spark plugs with?

mowgli
29-06-10, 06:05 PM
50% reduced, it must only be used to repair watches

Ben

Stuart

GM plugs are pregapped lol

But I gap by eye... Had several sets measured that I've done by eye and they were all correct :)

Ben

You get the screwdriver set free if you buy 5ltrs of oil

Lee

Go to motorfactors and buy them singularly.

Then you can put it back to how it was when we got the engine, ie 3 super 4's, 1 triple and a pair of singles lol

Make sure you get the best out of the engine by covering all possible best case scenarios on spark plug choice lol

lmfao @ people thinking I'd buy plugs from Halfords. Screenshot does not equal purchase :p I was just intrigued as to what price halfrauds peddled them for as I was looking around at ebay prices (£13 for a set of 6 NGK ftw).

Thing is though, there's no mention there that the plugs are unsuitable, or not enough. So the unobservant buyer may well grab a pack, have them delivered and then realise he's short two plugs lol

I serviced a vectra GSi for someone a while back, and he bought all the service parts. He supplied me with 3 spark plugs.

It turned out he never realised there was another bank on the back!

People like that need to use buses!

That could be VERY handy. Was it a Natwest or Nationwide by any chance?

So you wouldnt check a headgasket is sound before fitting?

You say that, but I bet say an NGK plug for a lets say Vauxhall 8v (they are all same) also shares the same fitment with other manufacturers cars, yet the plug gap specs are different.

The plugs are just set to an average.

Get a new one & measure it.

Yeah by looking at it, that's all i do with plugs. Look at it can see the tips fine and arm isn't bent, if there was a huge gap then i'd measure it. But none i've seen have huge gaps..

True, but that average means they still work fine... But am changing my plugs so i'll get some from work and measure them to see what they are. What are Let plugs ment to be?

I'd never bother gapping a plug unless it was a turbububo. Never had any probs.

Mybe some truth in that Lee. I've had engines that wont start, do the usual checks, gap the plugs down & then they fire.

LET's are very finnicky about their plug gaps, they can missfire like a biatch at high revs if you dont gap the plugs properly.

My XE's on the other hand, didn't seem to care what gap you gave them, as long as they were standard NGK's. Any other plug and it just didnt want to know.

Glad it wasn't just me,

Changed plugs while servicing cars in the bodyshop(say 200+) never had an issue.

Have any of your XE's ever ran long enough to find out if plug gaps were an issue :p
