hi thought id jus give a warning about buying parts off NAPALM 27! recently brought a gearbox from him and 1 week later during installation found there to be a hole covered with sealer!
The box was was brought for £70 and to quote nathan on a txt "100% good box". i also had to drive a round trip of 4 hours to collect! and then drop it off in leeds another 4 hour trip to be installed or not as the case maybe!!
Asked for my money back and was refused nathan claiming he has "no money" then today i read a thread where he has put his nova for sale on ebay to see what it would fetch and was slated asking him whats the point its a waste of £16 to which he replied:
"my money il spend it how i see fit :thumb:"
SEAM FIT pay me back you rip off merchant!!!

didnt bother me when i bought it i had the f28 sitting ready to fit minus the mount
and i cleaned all the fifth gear casing up to find the ratio number for him
it didnt leak or make any noises so how was i suspose to know

the way i see it, not taking into your repetition

you sold a product not as described, as you BOTH should of checked over it,

but to be fair, that seal 'dont' look that old

Not sticking up for anyone here but would you really take the box apart to check it when you buy it? I know its not the point but i have bought some right rubbish off here thats said to be good but its the luck of the draw with 2nd hand parts.

imo if the box wasnt as described you should have given a full refund, weather it was your fault or not. If you buy a second hand car from a garage and it breaks they fix it, very simple !!!

im surprised you havent been banned from this last time around !!!

Both parties have relevant points - If I was Napalm, I would be a bit peeved that everyone is accusing him of being a crook, when in all honesty, I would not have noticed - its not in an obvious position -

If I were fastcar I would also be peeved because a) I didnt check it properly and b) I have to buy another box....

Whatever the outcome, the box is still useable imo, so decide between yourselves how to sort it.

If I were Napalm, I would feel a bit gutted for the buyer, but cant say I would jump at paying the £70 back, esp if I was brassic!:thumb:

Unfortunetly I had something like this recently. I bought an engine of a guy, he did the bigend bolts up finger tight so engine would still spin over. To me and engine that spins and bores look good is about as much you could check. Got it home and noticed said loose bolts, took bearings out and there it was... ruined. I had paid £80 as it was mint and rebuilt... I told the seller. He said he didn't have the money and would have it in 2 weeks. I waited, then the day to meet came and I was told to keep the engine and he'll give me £50 back!!! Fuming! Oh well as in the end I sold the bits that were good and as it stands atm I am £30 up, some more items ending today to make me go £50-100 up, also have a crank and pot flywheel to weigh in. A mint late spec block that has been honed and a lighter late starter:)

P.S.: This wasn't this guy, i'm just posting this up to rub it in his face more!

Trendall
26-06-10, 09:27 PM
thats understandable only finger tight not good but then on an engine you cant check as much as you can on other things but if it runs and the test drive is good then sorted if it breaks the next day then well s**t happens really i bought a car took it for a test drive seemed good so i took it the next day relised the CV joints were f**ked and something else was broke but then again i didnt go running back to the guy for my money back as its what you get for buying sencond hand. plus the car only cost me £200 and it cost $50 to fix the gearbox cant you find a tig welder and just patch the hole up? i had to weld my gearbox on my saxo i had as the engine mount snaped a hole in it cost me $25 if you have an airfield near you they use tig welders alot and im sure some kid learning will weld a plate over it for £10 or something.

( so much for me not getting involved in this thread lol )

MattBrown

I think its no ones fault really.

You buy a box off a smashed up car, its been smashed up?

FFS its £70

Just refund him.

However, if nathan didnt know about the problem, then whys everyone slating him?

And if he did, then he is a dick.

Its a total open story, with 100 possible reasons etc.

bigdan1
26-06-10, 09:41 PM
the way i see it is if your buying something 2nd hand then you have to check it yourself i wouldnt go and look at a car and take the sellers word for it they might not look in places i do!
i wouldnt give a refund persoanlly especially if it was sold as seen but if i new about it id tell the person buying it and charge abit less i dont blag people im honest.

26-06-10, 09:46 PM
thing is i told him everything i could about it from what i knew
the clutch release arm hand been pushed in abit so i adjusted it once the box was off for him and told him i even told him it caused the bearing/pressure plate to whine as the arm wasnt functioning as it should and he was fine about that
i showed him the box he looked at it i took it to his car he opened the boot i put it in he went thats the story no hidden nasties or anything

i havnt got money to pay my own phone bill let alone give some one £70 back

and djbrowney i think your a prick but i dont go shouting about it :thumb:

if you had it apart Napalm like you said, it open's up more possibilties(sp)
-you could have put it there (not saying you did)
-how could you not notice it?
-if the apparent teeth are missing as said why was it not mentioned, which obviously makes me think that you knew about the hole.

thats just my opinion, im on no-one's side, but tbh Napalm, if someone is buying your nova, you'll have some money, i mean its not hard to refund £70 when you sell ur car?
Just be the better person, i mean you got a bad rep from before. just show you aint like that anymore.

napalm_27
26-06-10, 10:13 PM
i never opened the box up pete i was told all this by w88rdy
but havnt seen or heard anything about this on the thread
so its either a load of tosh or some one hasnt mentioned it yet

as iv said over and over it was sold how i got it simple as no more need saying about it
but why i should refund him if the box works fine i dont know (which it does)
if the box all of a sudden had a vile nasty noise coming out of it then i would say scrap it and il give you the money back but its not like the box is un-useable as i proved that and so did nobby when we both run it in our nova's on the same engine at that aswell
so there's not much reason for a refund except a hole i didnt know about which can be sealed up with ease its just him being an **** about it tbh

and to clarify i said the box worked 100% there was no mention about it externally being 100% even tho to my knowledge it was

Mazz

50/50 imo, so refund half..

i dont understand why your kicking off and throwing your toy's out of your pram, you getting the hump and being an idiot just makes you look guilty and as you said, like you dont give a flying fuk.

just be reasonable and talk it through with the buyer, maybe refund half as it is a 50/50 thing. i picked something up from you once and it was as described, you were a reasonable person, but i live a maximum of 15 mins from your doorstep so if i had a problem then i would have been able to pop back, you have to feel a bit sorry for this fella when he has travelled so far??? or not? i dont see how your attitude will get you far in life, let alone a business?

yes, it was a bucket seat for a stock car, very simple, you told me it had a rip, wasnt the best but certainly useable and in a good, safe condition. i picked it up and it's in my stock car to this day. a perfect sale and no bull**** from you.
i just dont see why you have to react how you do, it just makes you look guilty. it sounds more like money is your problem, you dont have it so you adopt a ****e attitude to anyone trying to get any out of you. just be reasonable, look at the situation and ask if you could have done more to help the outcome, are you responsible, and if so come to an agreement.
