Gearbox's !

Right what gearbox would people reckomend for my c16xe?

its currently got an F15 Cr but ive got a F13 Cr sat in the garage.

I dont have a clue in the differances or what it does apart from some cogs moving lol

what would you use?

basically, in simple terms...... do you want access to your clutch?

f13 has a plate, f15 doesn't

other than that, which one has done less miles?? or been looked after better?

ps. not to be spellbot...... but the plural is gearboxes

what do you mean access to my clutch? would the F15 clutch thats in the engine at the moment not just swap over to the f13

I have no history on either gearboxes :(

the f13 gearbox has an access plate so you can change the clutch in situ, the f15 doesnt. You don't need to swap your clutch to fit the F13 though :thumb:

ok which will give me a better set up for round town.

With the F15 i rarely get out of 3rd on my daily travels

i think they are very similar if not the same ratios, as Mowgli said the only real difference is the clutch access plate so you may as well keep the F15 on

think i will, unless i cant drill out the rear gearbox mount then the F13 will be going on lol

If you are rarely out of third, you either love ragging it round on twisty lanes...... or its not a cr box.

every day on the way to work im greeted with about 2 miles of lovely lanes haha

it may not be a Cr box but it goes through 1st and 2nd very quickly.

The box is the standard L reg corsa Gsi box

Unless its been changed before you got it the GSi box is a CR.

Ok mate, if you can take a pic im sure could point you in the right direction of sorting it :)

Not all F13's have the access plate, i have three here, none of them have access plate.
But the access plate is useless to you as you still have the pot flywheel i presume.

F13/F15, not a massive differances, Have a play with Stus gearbox thingy, find out the final drives though.
