my mate sent me an e-mail with a braking problem. just to see if any of you can shine any light on it. i dont wanna give any wrong advice.

"a couple a days ago, it wouldn't move from the driveway. It was in gear and the handbrake was off, but it refused to move! It kept dipping lower and lower and would spring up again. I'm thinking it's either the brakes sticking on, therefore a problem with the brake pads or discs, or it's the drum. Any help or advice would be well appreciated!!!"

cheers

what reg/model so we can guess if it has ATE brakes or not, im guesing it hasnt and it has seized.

other option is the rear brakes have seized which is more than likely as hes said the car dips (indicates to me rears are locked)

check to make sure the cable isnt getting pinched

mine did this when i parked on a steep hill in the rain. The rear hubs has seized. Sh*t myself when they finally snapped back into play! Does the back end dip? This could indicate rear hub problems.

Try taking the wheels off and freeing the hubs somehow by stripping them of solvent cleaner of brake cleaner. dont get it on the pads!.

Rear drums have got stuck, normally just pulling away is enough to free it.
Could try adjusting the handbrake cable / shoes once it's free'd.

if it is the rear drums i find taking the wheel off and twating the drums with a hammer frees em off
