Right, i'm looking to drop my steering column down 30mm ish. I know there's 3 fixings, is the top right one a welded stud? Or can it be knocked out?

Help appreciated!

Chris

its like the usual captive bolts iirc, grinder/hammer action.

One side is a shear bolt, so just chisel round, one on the column is 13mm, just wasn't sure about the stud. No chance getting a grinder on it!

Can anyone confirm either way? Ta

I can look when I get home later, I think it's tacked in to place though?

Did you have any joy Ian? I've looked at it today, and I can't tell :-(

Anyone got any ideas on this? Nova has been put on hold for a few weeks, but now i've booked a track day it needs to get sorted! Hope to get it all sorted this weekend.

I looked this evening in the rain, and I honestly can't tell how it's welded. I've tried ****ting it with a hammer but not a bit of movement :(

surely you can grind it if you remove the dash?!

Sorry chimpy chimpy chimp chimp forgot all about this!

Will try and remember to have a look at my shell after work tomorrow to work out how it's attached.

If its not gonna budge you could cut it down to about 1cm, get some female threaded rod and bolt it on, then you can use that to space down the column and bolt in to the other end of the rod.

Grind the actual column bracket off the bulkhead, lower that & then retain the same fasteners.

I've got the dash out, only the loom etc left.

Looking at that, it looks like i'm just blind and the grinder will fit, then drill out the rest of the stud.
Shame i can't just hammer it out :(
Ian, I've got some long treaded bar, was going to use that to drop the column don and then it's fully adjustable. Just need to fab a bracket for the lower column mount. I might try and find somewhere that has treaded sleeve and locktite it in place.

Thanks
