Well ive start a new job and im starting to get my own tools so i dont have to worry about breaking the guys i work with's tools. My boss goes out with the Snap on representitive (sp) and i got a catalogue the other day and Holy Shot haha prices for snap on are stupid, If you pay retail that is lol But went on ebay and got some tools and for £70 i got stuff that was worth about £160 if i bought from snap on them self, I was looking at the big tool box's aswell and some off them are like 3k without any tools, Its mental the price of tools lol
Rant over lol

if you make a living from it, you cant be snapping sockets every 10min can you,
my box at work is worth about £6k lol
the one i use in the van and at home, about £2k lol
well tbh i would rather spend £100 on snap stuff than get the same things from halfrauds for a tenner lol
I go for Beta, I can afford it and usually it's better then similar priced otherstuff. I wouldn't see the need to spend £000s on snap-on with my job, plus everyone "borrows" and sometimes they don't return.

nope, its takes 1/4 second to unlock it
I get all the Draper Pro gear for next to nothing through Leannes work.
Had about £160 tools last week for £49 inc VAT.
That's pretty swish. We're a good shift really and I borrow as often as I lend just some people
spoil that.
Plus our machinery has lots of dark greasy places to loose such important items as 4mm allen keys I was gutted, £80 set no missing the most useful :(
you only buy them once.............

After spending £xxxx on tools,i never let them out my sight. Some have broken, and conveniently Strap-on warranty doesnt cover the broken ones,i remember me and my mate blasting a snap on euro tools 13 mm spanner in a vice with a lump hammer til it broke, just to see how strong it was lol lol
It got replaced but the clark spanner in comparison was strongerlol

snap on is the best if your going to be using them long term, and with snap on you can pay weekly doesnt have to be cash up front, me my dad and my brother and at work all our tools would be mostly snap on, you cant beat there warranty with sockets, screwdrivers, ratchets etc
Well ive started buying the Snap on blue point stuff, which seems pretty good tbh

i ONLY buy blue point now , its still snap on but its 25% cheaper as its not got a chrome finish lol
Didnt realise Blue Point was owned/marketed by Snap On! Ive got loads of Blue Point spanners.
Bacho do some quality kit, **** it, Halfords stuff are ace as well. I've only ever broken a ratchet spanner but that was bouncing a hammer off it so my own fault. The Bacho stuff has a lifetime garentee so anything broken was always replaced foc.

i use facom/britool(witch are the same company now) and signet. all are priced well and life time garentee. + i got this for £400

if you are a poorly paid trainee, buy a few snap on tools at first, on 10, 11, 13,15,17, 19, 22, 24. buy cheap drapers or similar for the rest. get some decent screwdrivers etc. then build up as you need them. when a cheap one gets broken, buy a snap on to replace it. eventually you will have a full set, and still have money.
i knew a school leaver 20 odd years ago who signed himself up for £4k of debt to the snap on man & the kid was actually useless as a mechanic & lasted 3 months

Lad at work has had Halfords Professional stuff sinced he started with us over 5 years ago and has had stirling service from it. He has hardly broken anything.
I have had it for a number of years with no problems. I have only broken one item, a 3/8 allen key which gave way with a fat git(Moi) hanging off the end of a breaker bar it was attatched to! Took it back and replaced it there & them with no fuss. Also replaced a spanner with no questions as it had a flaw in the chrome.
Admittedly I have got some Snap-On tools which are specialist items I cannot get from any other maker. Also have a 1/4 & 3/8 ratchet cos they were cheap at the time.
Also have a 1/4 & 3/8 ratchet cos they were cheap at the time.
Always handy to have, ive got one ¼ rachet & two ½ rachets, and a nice selection of palm rachets too.
Having abused most makes of tools to within an inch of their lives I can't praise snap on enough, both for quality and niceness to use, they just have a better feel to them!
Blue Point is much the same as Halfords stuff in qualit and price, bit nicer to use though.
Mac, decent enough
Halfords Pro are still a good bet on a much lower budget, and if you look after them last well. Away from the socket and spanner sets though the ergonomics aren't great.
Teng are pretty good for most stuff but I'd avoid the ratchets if you're going to be hanging off them. The tend to flex a fair bit. Very strong sockets though.
Britool used to be ace, now however, are utter gash and everything I've had from them lately has been returned after trying it out. Poor action on the ratchets, sockets are weak, screwdrivers may as well be made from biscuit
Beta I've only used the air tools, nice at frst but don't last well at all
Bahco is proper industrial stuff and it shows. Adjustable spanners, pliers etc are excellent.
Draper expert decent enough for the chunky stuff, spanners etc.
If you want a decent tool box for a sensible price Halfords roller bearing jobs are not too bad, Clarke HD is well worth a look and probably the best budget option. Snap On is the only 'premium' brand one i'd bother with though, the other top end boxes are fairly weedy in comparison I've found

Snap-On is good stuff but is vastly overpriced. Best to only buy stuff when its on offer, even then its usually bloody expensive!
Wanted a replacement trim clip tool as my mate had lost mine at the scrappy :( but at over £25 I'll do without!
I found Britool now is good, and way better than current Halfords Advance.

Theyre not bad at all.
Ive got allsorts
Halfords
Draper pro/expert
Snap on
Bluepoint
Bahco
By far the best spanners are King Dick (25 years old)
Also brittool.
Tools are good, but sometimes, when you loose a £15 spanner, you get pisheed offlol
Another thing with the halfords advance is the cases they come in are now ****, mine has fallen apart so many times and caused me to loose tools, but halfords do a pretty crappy range of socket organisers too, so I'm now losing them at alarming rates since I bought a proper box :(
