View Full Version : What underseal do you recommend?
Before I waxoyl under the car I want to spray it with some underseal (stone chip and Schutz is the same thing, right?), but problem is there is so many different makes so not sure which one to go for.
I want something that will remain flexible and not peel or crack.
i use one called "rubber guard" can be left as it is or it can be painted over.
can't remember who its made by, i'll have a look on the tin tomorrow.
Fook no!!!!! Shutz ain't like stone guard, I'm going etch primer, high build primer, grey paint, clear waxoil, I used shutz years ago and all it done was seal the rust in!! If you want proof then look at my wip, I'll never use shutz again.
Whats the original stuff that Vauxhall used? Its black but inside its white and soft/rubbery.
I've been told the 3M or Hammerite underseal is decent.
Shutz is black but not overpaintable and never really sets, horrible ****,

na thats just stop chip in a posh can lol
look in my thread below a few pages back you can see when i done mine the part number is in there !!!
Okay, rule of thumb, if it's not over paintable it's cack IMO
Went through the thread but didn't find it.
So whats the diffeernce between underseal, stone chip, Schutz, etc etc etc etc? (there seems to be millions of kinds)
Why can't they use make one product that works instead of hundreds! :(
Basically car is not rotten just surface rust like any other car (in some places) so just want to spray it with a 'product' that will protect it then waxoyl on top.

Gravitex is the stuff you need(Prob same as the 3M stuff mentioned) as its overpaintable. I have used it on a couple of different cars and its good stuff.
3M rubberised sealant. Its the best stuff. Yes its about 15 quid a bag, but its worth every penny.
Garvitex i've found just cracks as it dries. Bodyshop use it on mot welding jobs.. I think its crap.
Benn is that the 'Brushable Seam Sealer' you're talking about?
And what best to use to clean the floor before you apply anything, will thinner be alright?
