awesome. but for a proper biased opinion, ask on a Glanza forum. lol
My mate had one and it was a pukka little car quick for what they are espcially round town. Only thing that went on his was the clutch but a micra one is the same and he fitted it himself in a wekend.
a weekend do to a clutch?!
the 1 im looking at has just had a paddle clutch fitted and its 180bhp at 7psi

That sort of speaks for it's self then, there a small, light car at 180bhp it's going to be quick.
hes no mechanic hes a valeter lol
They are spot on, quick for what they are. Easy to gain a bit of power.
Gearboxes like to crunch (usually 3rd). I had an ep82, all i wish i had done was lower it. Suspensions like jelly standard lol

As above.
No faster than an xe nova.
Good cars, gearboxes suffer when abused
Look for a decent standard one.
But saying that, they will all have been abused.
can't be on xe nova level if people are saying vts is faster

I've also heard they have chocolate engines and they like to melt lol
a guy at my work has one,hes done all the usual stuff, suspension, brakes, stripped out etc and has lightly tuned the engine....ive been in it and it would beat a valver nova hands down, hes had it a few years in runs it everyday with no severe problems, buy a good one from the start and your sorted

The 4efte engine are awesome in these, and at 180 bhp at 7 psi would be quite fun and also running very safe boost,
the ct9 turbos on these are good upto 190-200 bhp but then i would go for a hybrid ct9 imo.
Anything else you need to know drop us a pm, i know quite a bit about starlets ;)
Oh and the Uk's biggest starlet tuning company is situated in braintree (tm developments)
This is my bro's old one that was running about 200 on a hybrid ct9

f'lol jack, sure its not the other way round?

lol @ that, i am a trained toyota tech, we had a clutch swap down to 4 hrs on these....
as has been said the ct9 is weak if it hasnt been serviced often, brake parts, and suspension bits arnt cheap. dont touch one with a piggy back ecu, it can fukk alot of things up. fmic is a must. as is a decent exhaust. lad i worked with had a 230bhp one, was alot quicker than my old xe merit, but it ate parts regularly...
btw if the ct9 dies, the import lucida 2.2 td uses the same part. the ct26 single entry off a early mr2 turbo and the 7m-gte supra mk2 turbo motor fits and is good for 300bhp.

They're not bad cars at all and i nearley bought one myself but they are pretty expensive for what they are ! One i looked at was MINT and a fresh import on a P reg but it was £3800 !!!!! I ended up Buying myself a Toyota Levin instead, test drove both and instantly fell in love with the Levin, it was £1000 cheaper, faster much better handling and just drove really nicely.
f'lol jack, sure its not the other way round?
Admittedly I was understeering round him at the time, but yeah he was pretty much punting me off the road. Was quite surprised really, I thought they were supposed to handle well. Although I guess FWD can only take so much power.
From knowing mates with them, appauling disgraces of Cars.
They're poorly made, flimsey and can have their asses kicked from Corsa Sports! Any sort of mod costs an absolute fortune, eg an Intercooler meand an Oil Filter relocation! Lot of money for something you could build in your shed for 1/2 the price.
