You sure birthday boy?110% my brothers 1.7td is putting out 170lb ft of torque at the mo, thats limited by the turbo, with a bigger one it should be closer to 200 lb ft

That's tuned though so don't count :p

course it does, takes half an hour and a cheap ebay intercooler to get that power. how much would it cost to gt the same out of an ecowreck. then fail!! this conversion is a false economy conversion lol

i agree my cav flies far better engine:)

What sort of performance are you guys getting then from your diesel?

burgo

well a 1.5td nova on here running a bog standard engine other than the boost and fuel turned up is putting out 105 bhp and 130lbft of torque. with the N/A inlet and a decent intercooler this would on increase more. even so without them that is more than the 1.6 8v's easily.

then consider a relitively simple ish 1.7td conversion, as already said my brothers 1.7td currently puts out 110bhp and 170lb ft of torque, that was with the boost spiking at 21psi and tailing off to 17psi so a hell of alot more to come out of it with a better turbo.

i predict 130bhp and 200lbft of torque, thats not far off ecowreck horsepower but LET torque!!

what's the 0-60 like?

0-60 isn't a great gauge of a cars performance ..... 50-70 is way more useful

a stock 1.5td will waste a 1.4 nova & give a gte a hard time, so a 1.7td will be mixing it with xe's

It's impossible to do 50mph at a set of traffic lights though ;)

and may you not forget,

400miles, at 85-90mph and a rolling road, all on 3/4 tank lol

Pics aren't working Dave mate.

I'm a HUGE Cav fan as Everyone will tell you but I ****ing hate Diesels. That said, I'd have one over an XEV anyday.

The Engines themselves are pretty decent and can be tuned for big power gains as GM have them pretty well restricetd but its everything else on them that makes the XEV Transplant a Fail. Problematic sensors, additional wiring for the Imobilizer and the aweful F18 Gear boxes and remember, these will have the wide belt pulleys.

I say go for TD.

This will be me,... and about 8 seconds to 60mph .. when I got it it were doing 11s! So she has improved a hell of a lot..

Vectras weigh **** loads more as well and the engines in Cavs and Vectras are actually different (bottom end wise)

Early XEV's has no transponder for all that immob rubbish and the F18 back then wasn't made of that soft cheese with holes in it. Sensor problems are normlly just rubbish cheap wiring made of cheese strings and the ICV get's dirtier quicker than a hoe's underwear.

The blocks, internals and sumps were also different and the F18s were cable and not Hydro operated but were still cheese.

Exactly they weight a fair bit more, that's why the Cav will smash all Vecs except the V6's of course.
