Out of interest, why have you chosen the ecotec?

Agree with AW06, underratted engine.

Will keep an eye on this one. Will it be as easy as sticking in a big block into a petrol Nova. Are the mounts not a bit different on the oil burner?

a 17td (isuzu) from an astra mk3 is way more tuneable for way less money.. but if the ecotec is your thing, then fair play to you. just don't leave any diesel hanging around anywhere in tanks/ fuel lines, as efi engines don't like it very much.

Fair play, dont know too much about them, hence why asking why the decision to use it,
o.p, that other nova yours?

connor, the redtops are running out fast. the ecotec is not much behind them in performance terms as std & there are tons of them about

And they are surprisingly good. The Cav has smoked cars that I never would have imagined it could take. I have been pleasently surprised.

One tip for Timbo, while the engine is out (the eco) make sure you inspect all sensor wiring on the loom (and rewire/replace wires for those bits if needed) as they are the main culprits of EM light coming on and the well known eco bugs. I also suggest you buy a brand new ICV for £30, biggest peace of mind you'll ever get on the eco.

also cambelt and water pump and tensioners. the chassis leg mounty on the td is different so yu need to weld one in, i have a corsa type 2 chassis leg mount that would be perfect for it, you can have it for a tenner.

ecotec is being used purely because he has one from a mk3 astra that he scrapped not so long ago, 90% of the parts to complete project are lying about the lockup.thanks for opions & coments

Good engine to have as a spare mate.

Good engine to use in a Nova too, trust me it shifts my bros Cav so well and likes revs.

Run with it mate. I'll be watching this :thumb:

Nova tek - engine came out of a 1 owner genuine FVSH 40,000 mile Astra Sport so it would be silly not to use it.

started stripping front end tonight not too bad for rust so wire buffed the tops of the inner wings & gave them a coat of Hammerite

Only just run in that engine. My bro's engine has done about 90k and it pulls so strong. Hopefully you'll mate it to a Close ratio box to make the most use out of it :)

Hope you used a bit of etch primer on the bare metal areas you wire brushed.
