You're not gonna get much power out of a 1.0 matey even if you play around with lots of bits. Id say if you want a bit of nippiness then go the 1.3 carb route out of the SR.

I know it's not exactly what you wanted to hear but you'll get a few users say what I've said.

I used to have a 1.2 carb, was ok in a minimal way. For a 1.2 you could fit the 2E3 carb, cams out of a SR or kent/piper aftermarket, a good exhaust system etc and you might see 10bhp increase but nothing that will ignite the tarmac. With a 1.0 I'd say either service it and get it running standard power or put in an engine of your choice i.e. 1.3carb, 1.6 etc

just try to find a mk2 astra in a scrappers, as all the novas have gone by now..

basically, there are no aftermarket bits for a 1.0, there was a 1.2 version of the same engine, also fitted to mk2 astras, that might yeild a few bits, but its basically a time for you to look at improving handling, braking etc, then saving for a bigger engine.
