i have bought some secondhand bucket seats and they are mounted to Nova subframes with some homemade brackets.

They are way too high for me so need to mount them lower. Would i be able to weld some bars between the sills and exhaust tunnel and mount them directly to these?? (the seats are base-mounts)

brilliant pal, will 16mm square bar be good enough? i guess the plates on the end are recommended too??

To be honest, I'd be inclined to buy this..

Base mounts will be quite difficult to mount on rails IMO. How will you make them slidable and have access to bolt from underneath?

I'd get the proper subframes, Cobra and Corbreau both do ones to suit a Nova I believe.

i was planning to weld 16x16mm rails in a couple of inches above the floorpan, drill holes in these and mount the seats directly to them (ie. stud through rail and nut underneath - there will be enough room to get a spanner underneath). i dont need the seats to slide - will this method be strong enough?? thats all i wanted to know

I dont want to spend loads of money on subframes either but thanks for the advice

You can get a cheap set of runners around 1cm thick perfect sandwich.

I've tried Cobra and Corbeau frame and they sit way too high..

My Corbeau ones sat at a nice height and I'm quite tall.

Rich I think I used 25x25mm 3mm thick box section when I did mine. Stud in the seat and nut underneath gets around the lack of space, good idea. I'd be quite worried about welding them in exactly the right place if you have zero adjustment.

i would use larger than 16mm but studs are restricting what i can use. it will be solid bar rather than tube though which should be adequate.

i will probably mount the rails to the seat and pack it up to hold it in correct position... then tack all the rails, unbolt seat and finish welding them in

^

Sit in them exactly where you want them & get a mate to mark out where the seat will mount to the car.

I also had this problem but with momo buckets
Was thinking of getting universal subframes to fit the momos then mounting to the floor next to the original guides or whatever there called
