lol
Spurred from another thread.
Whats better?
Living with mummy and daddy = millions of spare coins, cars and bikes and other toys galore.
Living in own place = no coins and loads of work
discuss.
I'm happy living wit my dad, we look after each other..lol
Living on your own obviously.Money isnt everything, yeah you may have a nice car but you have fukk all else
Depends how comfortably you can live on your own. I could get a flat but would have to sit in watching paint I couldn't afford dry and maybe having friends round where they bring the booze... or I could live at home(which I do) and blow loads of cash on stuff I don't need.
I think I'd be just as happy living alone so long as people came round
Oh... and blue fonter fail as this needs a poll

I've lived away from home for about 8 years or more not incl uni.
I've ended up back there for little periods here & there, last year when I was unemployed etc.
Tbh it depends what your folks are like, mine are old fashioned, a little strict & generally fed up of all my drum & bass music, car modding & mess making on the driveway etc.
Living on my own is far better than putting up with my poarents tbh.
MY mum's a pushover just moans about all things cars/guitars. I wouldn't want to leave home to lose my job and there be noway for me to go back. Whilst I'm an apprentice it's tempting to stay here

I still get Mum to do my washing. lol
I want to move out but dont want to rent, i look at is as throwing money away as im quite comfy at home.
Need to be saving for a deposit for a flat but its just so expensive. Dont know anyone thats looking to move out that i know well/get on with either
Having money to spend how i wish each month is good lol
I still get Mum to do my washing. lol
Me too. "I work 45hrs a week, look after you lot, do a degree and other stuff... I dont have time for your washing!"
So I do about 1 load a month... and still ask her every time how to use it haha
My rents were fine with me and still are,i had bikes and cars all over, could smoke ganj and drink whenever. Its just there comes a time in your life when you stand on your own 2 feet and live in the real world.Imo anyone who's still at home over 25 has failed.

I'm happy living at home with my mum, I guess it all depends on how well you get on with your parents. My mums cool, I get to keep the Nova in the garage etc. Now if I was in a proper relationship with a lady, things would probably be different. But since I'm single, I don't see much point in being broke just to afford living on my own in some crummy flat.
i live with my parents, and while i like having loads of spare cash (despite paying them board) and therefore loads of toys (cars, bikes etc) i'd rather have my own place, but would definitely find it hard to go without. looked at moving in with a mate a few months ago, wrote down all my expenses, and subtracted them from my income. came out with £40 quid spare lol i'll stop at home for now:cry:
I moved out about 18months ago. Love it tbh!!!
I wouldnt move back, EVER.
And so what you have more money at your parents.....
Yeah i had a s**t load more, but i still wouldnt move back!!
I just do what i what, where i want, when i want, and with who i want to do with!!! lol
Btw-All my car shizzle lives up my parents, not having all that ****e filling up my house lollollol
I dont have anything more than a screwdriver set at mine.
Oh and i ALWAYS have spare money left over every month.

£40 spare a week or a month?
I've done both, back home at the mo and the only reason I'm here is to build up a stack of cash for a few (literally) months. Then will be moving back out again with Hayley.
Much prefer my own place tbh.

i live at home still,
i work days, rents work nights, bonus lol
i get in, when they go out, i go out when they come back :p
OWN i HATE and i mean HATE living at home cant wait to get my own place money dont matter it will keep me sane lol
I bought my house from my dad
Then kicked him out lol lol lol
i still live at home as my mum is ubber cool, moving out soon though :/
I live with me mam and as much as I wish I could move out I cant afford to. But this is how things work in this house,
My mother owns: Everything, including me.
I own: My car and nothing else
I have rented on my own for nearly 3 years now (after living with the ex for 3 years)
Id rather not know how much of my landlords mortgage I have paid off rather than my own but I couldnt live at home for any great length of time. I get on waaay better with my mum and stepdad now im not living in thier house
I think living on your own has its ups and downs.. mainly its the lack of money but I live in a nice place that leaves me a couple of hundred every month to save so its not too bad. I do freak myself out sometimes when its dark and I hear a noise downstairs or there is a spider hunting me (insert girlie squeel) but its really nice to do what the hell I want in my own place.
Anyway, I live 5 mins from my mum so I can always put on the guilt trip and get her to do some of my washing/cleaning/cooking sometimes.
WIN
Im now living back at my rents place & TBH really enjoying it as now im slighter older & still immature I seem to get on with my dad & having copias amounts of car parts lying around everywhere doesnt seem to bother him anymore.
Fact of the matter is thought, once my dad retires, his house is mine anyway so I just gotta bide my time really. I would move out again if I could afford a that would be ideal for me (2 bed detached, with garage, driveway) but sadly simply cannot afford it so Ill stay put for now :)
£40 spare a week or a month?
month lol leaves no room for any unexpected expense. car needs tyres? tough :( lol
i got my first rented house when i had my first kid at 18,owned up to my responsibilities (sp) and have never looked back, having your own gaff is awsome.I bought my current house when i was 22 and have been here 4 years this year, yes there have been hard times but at the end of the day in 20 years it WILL be MINE :thumb:
£40 a month left?
FCUK that!!!! No way id go work to be left with that
imho there is nothing wrong with renting. aslong as its no more than 60% of an equiv mortgage as you havent got to care about paying to fix the heating etc when that all goes wrong.
Could never live with the old git again.... irritating tosser

after living on both sides of the fence randomly for a few years now here are some pro's & cons.
@ the rents:
Pro: Cash
Pro: dont have to go shopping every week
Pro: Usually have place bigger than you can afford
Con: May have limited patience if you roll in at 3am hammered as can be
Con: If your not hammered as can be and manage to pull they maybe annoyed at going at it hammer & tongs on a 1 nighter
con: May have limited patience on stripping your cars engine on their kitchen floor
Pro: Dont have to do all your own washing
Con: rents may get fed up of doing all your washing
Pro: most of the house you dont have to do housework unless asked
con: Asked quite a bit to do housework
Pro: If you have Long term partner then you can bring them home to meet the rents on the first date (gets that little gem out of the way!)
Con: Living with the rents when a bit older gets embarrassing (your 25 and STILL living at home?!)
Con: rents may pinch the odd tinny/bottle/glass
Pro: if your a bit late with the rent its ok, unless its the 50th time its happened and you still owe for the last 6 weeks!
Pro: Elecric & other bills are cut in half or more
Living alone:
Pro: Dont have to tidy up till you can't see the floor or neighbours complain about the funky smell
Pro: Can strip your engine on your kitchen floor
Con: Have to clean up after stripping engine on kitchen floor
Pro: can bring anyone back and repeatedly hammer the nail till your neighbours complain about the headboard/bed banging/squeeking various other loud noises
Con: Some neighbours can be bastids and will complain if you fart too loudly
Con: if your rent is late you will be called or mailed repeatedly till they get fed up and take away everything you own
Con: you have to keep place tidy if you wanna bring people back
Con: rents will pop up randomly, usually when the place is a bombsite
Con: have to do your own washing
Pro: MASSIVE sence of freedom
Pro: relaxing in the evening alone with a beer and TV on is a fantastic feeling
Feel free to add if I forgot anything
^I disagree with some of the living alone bits Novaguy, as most of that I do at my rents place anyway lol
fukkin lol have some rep mate

Oh I forgot to add one horrible con with living at the rents
MASSIVE BAD THING:
Hearing you rents having sex
basically, try pulling your gf from the sink, and rogering her on the coffee table when the soaps are on at your parents place, and you'll realise why your own place is better........

Suppose it depends what you do in your spare time tho like.
Me for one, Im always in bed come midnight latest regardless of day of week/end. Dont really go out drinking much as it bores the shÃ*t outta me, will nail my missus in the house regardless, have a workshop full of hand/power/machining tools at my disposal & get my washing/cooking done a princely sum of £40 a week.
Looking at it like that, I have no reason to move out regardless of being 25 in Feb or not lol lol

or walk around lassooing your cock squirting water pistols at them, see how cool they are with you then..............lol

wow, since i actually signed a contract this morning and paid a deposit, i can't help but feel im the best person to answer this lol
I've rented since i was 18 (two weeks after i turned 18) it was the best move i ever made, yes i was always broke and yes i had bailiffs chasing me round for council tax lol but i wouldn't change them years for anything.
Right at this moment im renting my mums house, she lives elsewhere, its a 3 bed with garage, everything is paid for by me and i pay £350PM.
The house im buying is actually in flint, its a 3 bedroom repo with the worlds biggest garden, as in you can fit 4-6 cars on the driveway alone, the monthly mortgage works out at £276PM, so it is cheaper to get a mortgage than to rent!
Mike- you're only 25?!
no hes 24,25 in february
Mike- you're only 25?!
12 actually Lynz, 12.
lol lol no 25 in February.

lol the old driveway would need to go anyway, it looks like its been done by gypsies, its just a giant piece of flat cement lol
I never actually moved out, i seem to remember saying to my mum 'i'm just spending the weekend at Hayleys' and then I just never went back, just sort of popped in now and again for clothes and shizzle lol
When we moved out of there it was the best feeling evar, and espite living in a static caravan on half a building site, I would ratehr be here than there by 150%! of course my massive workshop also adds to the win of the ehole situation, plus i dont pay any rent due to my business partner owning the land, and me being the provincial breadwinner while he does the brunt of the barn conversion :)
Downside is ive had very little money over the last few years, but you have to look at the light at the end of the tunnel, and once the barn is done we can get on with building my house, so being mortgage free in less than 10 years is an attractive prospect!
Pro: Can strip your engine on your kitchen floor
Con: Have to clean up after stripping engine on kitchen floor
LMFAO
the monthly mortgage works out at £276PM, so it is cheaper to get a mortgage than to rent!
One thing that does annoy me is when people (mostly older married blokes at work) look at me like I just fell out of a cow's ar$e on their freshly polished boots when I say I'm looking to rent, not buy. "Why spend £800 a month paying off someone else's mortgage when you can spend £300 a month paying off your own?". Yeah, thats great, now find me a bank that will give me a 100% mortgage and 6x salary deal for under £500 a month lol
Ideally I'd want to stay at home - where I can easily save almost a grand a month - for a year, so added to Hayley's savings we'd have a decent £20k to put down on a house. Unfortunately it'll probably get to the point where I'm tearing my hair out being at home, so will grab the next place available at probably £900 a month rent (yeah, go check out the rental prices in Dorchester) and end up being stuck for the next xyz years lol
I suppose at the moment I can steal Hayley's place when I need to get away, or get the bouncy bouncy on. Would just be nice to have our own place where I can store all my car junk instead of taking over my dad's shed. And leaking oil all over his driveway.
I'll get off my soapbox now lol
instead of taking over my dad's shed.
.... and my barn lol

Rents place is good if you wanna save a bit of dough and the rents are cool but obviously you're limited to doing things that they want and not what you want (most of the time).
Own place is cool coz you're the boss, do what you want. But if you're on a low income/have no money then it'll be a very tough time financially. You'll probably end up having no disposable income and you can probably forget about working/spending money and time on cars etc.
All depends on your finances.

I couldn't agree more TBH, I've had the same since i was 18 and im now 24, im sure the older generation just forget you need a deposit or money just falls from trees
For me it was mainly luck, i had the money there and house prices crashed which was the only way i would have been able to get a house, if i didn't get the repo on the cheap theres not a chance i'd be able to afford what i got:eek:
.... and my barn lol
Did I say saving for a deposit on a house? I meant saving for an LS400 V8 lol
i moved out when i was 17 and im 29 this sat , was the best thing i have ever done , had to move back for a few month when i split from the ex etc , then moved in with a mate for a year , and have had a place with my current g/f soon to be wife lol , for 7 years now
yes im always skint and have got debts through my nose lol , but i couldnt not havemy own place now
