xe fuel pipe trouble!

just put a xe engine in and been connecting fuel line up today but when the pump was running the fuel would make it to the rail but wouldnt entre it. i think it has somethin to do with the fuel regulator onthe end of the rail but not 100% sure wat that is even for.
could i just have the pipes on the wronge way round?

Lol you could have. , the feed goes direct to the rail , and te return comes from the regulator
