It's an x16 looking at the wires that hang over the gearbox, there for the egr gubbins, may even be off the xel tbh. What's it out of?

Have you no pics of the top of the engine then?

It was raining, I can't tell the difference, it has a Powerbox

What's it from? Corsa or Astra??

Supposed to be a Corsa GSi

Corsa GSi - too slow

But as i said, X16 downpipe, SAI stuff, EGR (Ok could be due to powerbox, but still)

What year as the C16 only came on a L reg? Then they all became the X16 which later turned into a Corsa Sport engine.

I'm not sure at all. I bought the engine as it is there

Id bet its a full X16.

Or at least, a C16 block/head

Yep still say a X16 also, what ecu did you get with it? Or have you got a C16 loom ready for it (far easier)

Edit: Are you sure it's not a X14?

I need to get all the bits/loom out and take some pics, I will do when I go see my G/rents next time

If it's definitely a X16 I'm not going to put it in

You'll be fine running it if you get the C16 wiring loom/ecu, tbh there's naff all difference and the X16xel head is supposed to be the better one anyway (according to SBD) if tuning.

Stick a decent manifold on and it will be fine ;)

It's just all mounting up, costs of stuff to change and effort, be easier to get an 8v far cheaper at the rate it's going

Why what else is needed besides the loom? You can still use the original manifold if it has one, you'll need not much else really.

I know a lad to get a Loom off. I'm unsure on the speedo issue as mines the 1.0

Southie

You'll need a SPI gearbox sender to make the ecu recognise the speedo but you'll find one easy enough, not sure regarding wiring to the 1.0 though tbh, pm AW06 he might beable to give you a better insight. Have you looked at the articles he wrote up regarding the conversion?

I have and we talk on msn, still unsure on the whole thing really, need to bang it in and cross bridges when i come to them, or pay someone to wire it in

The wiring ain't a massive problem if there's not X16 transponder noncence, that's why it's better to get hold of a C16 wiring loom/ecu setup, they only need 3 wires to get the ignition side running and the rest are temp, speedo, and fuel pump tbh.

That's why i thought i'd get a C16XE

It's only easy though if you've got the loom for one otherwise it's shiit.

Trust me that engine will be fine running on c16 wiring as long as it does have a powerbox otherwise it will start to be a nightmare, I'm not the only one that's had x16/c16 running issues.

That reminds me I still need to relink all my wip pictures ;)

if you want an 8v and have an exhaust ready to go on the 16v I might be interested in a straight swap lol

A 1.0 lol

If I wanted a 1.0 I'd check out a scrapyard, they must have 100's that we've given them :p

A 1.0 lol

A lad at college was suprised when I said mine was an 8V the other day... he genuinly thought it was a 4V I ROFL'd, I said it's got 4 Cylinders you tit... he replied "And?" I nearly had tears

the c16xe has rubber breathers from the rocker to the crank,
the x16xe has steel with rubber connecting bits,

well mine did lol

I think both my X's have rubber to both ends iirc

Here's a couple of pictures from a X16xe I stripped a few years ago, it shows a few of the sensors that you have showing in your pictures.
