i think the webber 32/34 dmtl is prob better than a single 40 for what you would need.

its a 1.3sr engine that i'm running mine on.

you can get a k&n or other different types of filters for the 32/34.

but i'm sure sum1 may have a different idea(S)

for the price of a brand new weber 32/34 carb (over ?200)you could buy a used 1.6i gte engine and have about 30bhp more than your SR now.

i am running a modified 1600SV and it keeps up with most things :D

its basically a carb engine out of an astra or cavalier, but it had an ECU :? :o to control fueling ratings and igntion timings, dump all this and fit carbs and a cam your laffing :D

16SV is a 1.6ltr 8v carb engine,about 90bhp.?200 is too expensive,unless its got 30000miles or something.
Keep an eye on the for sale ads on here and on www.migweb.co.uk and you will be able to get a nova gte/gsi E16SE fuel injected 1.6ltr 8 valve engine with gearbox, ecu loom and anything else needed to make it run for less than ?150.
Install it yourself, its nothing hard, its just heavy work.
Where are you,if your near manchester i could give you a hand fitting it.
