s13 looks beter imo, 14 is too new. unless silvia :)

Guy i got my astra gte off has one, im taking it for mot sat, if its ok or doesnt need too much work im swapping the astra lol

dont think the turbo is standard either, big front mount looks like 2.5 boost pipes into turbo

in all fairness they are very easy to work on even though they are jap and new engine/boxes/diffs are cheap enough

they do massive tyre popping burnouts, so they get my vote!!!!

that looks very tidy.. this one has a big front mount so all the plastic fan surround has been removed, just a spinning fan now lol

What sort of gains is it looking at with a big front mount and decat/exhaust? apparently really frees them up

i cant remember, was a few years ago now, i do know they respond extremely well to 'stage 1' mods like filter, full exhaust and intercooler. after that then i think the injectors need upping along with a new pump, supra one normally then you can get winding the boost up along with chipping. im sure about 300bhp is available with simple mods, after that you have to turn attention to internal work

you want a silvia spec r!

Rich
14-06-10, 10:30 PM
not at that price lol

The guy befoer my mate got it reckoned it was 280brake.

Its got big front mount, hard boost pipes. looks to be a bigger turbo but dont know the standard size. still has standard airbox on it though

The standard turbo is a Garrett T25 they are great engines! but suffer from crank bearing oil starvation resulting in spinning shells and chewed bearings if neglected so make sure the engine is clean and doesnt knock, apart from that they are cheap, light and very tunable! Im in the process of sticking one in a Nova! should be fun!

This is one spec'd up in anger if this doesnt make you want one nothing will!

As Rich says. ^ CA18DET's are made from chocolate and the body will rot faster than any Nova if you buy a wrong 'un! Perrsonally I wouldn't touch one unless it was for some cheap drift practice and you don't care about it rusting.

As Simps says, an S14a makes a great buy these days. My mate finally has one after looking long and hard (lol) for a low miler in the right colour and spec and he loves it. It's a very nice car.

Of course they have the right engine as standard. SR20DET and as MK says, the RB lumps are 90% drop straight in.

I wouldn't agree on a 14a looking modern though! Well, maybe in this shot: lol

I had this debate with my mate last year about which looks best out of the S13 and S14 i said S13 and I still think so it just looks cool in every possible way the only thing thats crap is the dash its a cheap 1 peice grey plastic thing i'd rip it out!

The PS13 looks better IMO or the drop top with S15 dash and 14a front end (and presumably rear). lol

Have to agree with this I've had both!!

S14 is a lovely driving car, my last one was over 300bhp which was interesting in the wet! Very fussy on petrol when tuned, I thought I was OK using BP Ultimate, but once I melted a set of pistons, I knew it wasn't OK.lol
