running problem

i have a corsa c 1.8 sri and while i was out for s spin the other night i just lost power, there is a loud noise coming from the air filter when i rev it and it has no power what so ever, anyone have any idea what this could be? diagnostic light is on but trying to save money as i lost my job last week, any help apreciated,
