What can I pillage one off, diesels only, TD only, or whatever I like? iirc gte/sri/sr ones are different to everything else and don't match up at all, or is it the case that after the downpipe everything is the same?

TD only,

i managed to fit an SR system to a TD downpipe, but was all cutting a welding lol

Hmm, rocking horse then lol Sounds like cutting and welding might be the way forward, but I'm hoping I can do a better job than whatever numpty had a go before me lol

yeah just seen how cheap they are, was expecting more than that, think my particulate filter is bodged too though, new one of those is £120... short length of exhaust is much less though lol

It does... you know how my exhaust sits stupidly fcuking low? It's got a particulate filter or silencer etc bodged in with lots of weld and a random section

it shouldnt have a particulate filter, put it that way

It shouldn't, and it shouldn't sit 4 inches below the car, hence wanting a new exhaust lol

edit: just seen my post, I have a habit of clicking round and finding things out and forgetting about what I thought 2 minutes ago, just been down the motor factors and seen there's no particulate filter on them, normally. They also wanted about £90 for the lot.

ditch the rest of the system, straight through to the backbox FTW.

this is true, but I'm not really up for messing about welding bits in for a daily, would also most likely cost a lot more as there's nothing on the shelf, getting rid of the botched up bit should do for now.

not at all, £20 for a 2 meter length of exhaust tube form your local factors then £20 to your local friendly tyre and exhaust place to lob it in

Sounds a decent option. Wondering if there's anywhere local that would even do it though, last time I tried to get my manifold mated to the exhaust on the 1.6 there was only one place that would do it and they made a bit of a mess of it and charged me a premium.

you not got anywhere like selecta tyres or a kwik fit?

MK999
14-06-10, 02:07 PM
Yeah there's a kwik fit up the road but they don't touch anything that doesn't just bolt straight in as oem replacement, same as everywhere else I tried phoning before.

you own a nova, dont you have a welder lol

Course, now we get back to the not fooking about for the daily thing lol It'd need bends putting in it as well, unless I just cut out the ****ty box and weld it up straight I guess

Tbh there isn't anywhere round here that will get involved with fitting lengths of exhuasts to standard systems. I certainly wouldn't trust kwik fit to do it, I wouldn't trust them to do my tyre pressures tbh.

I would offer to do it for you MK999 but the work welder is broke and it would probobly end up the same or worse then your current system lol

Just had a look at it, it seems someone has bought one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Diesel-Catalytic-Converter-CAT-VAUXHALL-NOVA-1-5-/200460970460?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eac67a9dc#ht_1961wt_1162

Realised it doesn't fit, and welded the normal centre section in just after the cat/particulate filter, so there's not really anywhere straight that you can go between with the exhaust from what I can see, as around the cat/particulate is a massive s shape.
