I had a successful days testing at Mallory Park yesterday in the race Golf. The car performed fantastically and Colin and I were lapping with equal pace. Not much on the day was keeping up with us in the mighty 1.8 16v Golf PMSL including passing Elises, Caterfields and a 465bhp V8 M3 haha!
The new in-car camera I purchased the other day is excellent, highly recommended (ContourHD). Uploading videos is painfully slow though, so I’ve only managed the one session below and a one lap clip. (The rest will follow in due course for anyone that’s interested)

Turbo powered (presumably YB), unfortunately disappointing on track.

F1 boys are pansies with their tyre degradation, this is what degraded tyres look like!

Crazy multi flapped/vented TVR, only managed a couple of laps at a time

It seems to have been ruined during upload, the audio is out of sync and the picture isn’t quite right unfortunately.

i didn't know that mallory did saturday tests, they have done open tests on a wednesday for ever...

some of those cars looked much more like trackday ones, especially the clio, did you get much objective testing done with all the traffic holdups?

It was a trackday, but we weren't the only ones using it as a test LMAO. You could definately tell the racers from the trackday drivers though!

We're not going to be racing there this year, so it was just an assessment of how the car feels after a few changes we've made (cams, sorting out the engine probs and different rear springs). Also I seriously lack time behind the wheel in the Golf, so any opportunity is a good one!

usually after a track day, there are a few cars that appear on the local lanes with the poor owner sprinkling bumper bits on the road so he can get the insurance to sort it....

I was actually really impressed that there were no red flags for accidents, I think I only saw two people spin out and they quickly regained control and continued. It was a really cheap day too, £149, open pitlane and a generous 105dB noise limit.

No rear chicane and 56-57's on a clear lap.

W00t, finally :) Great piloting as per usual, although mallory isn't that challenging its a great little circuit. Almost like a missing link between llandow and full size circuits :)

I canny wait to see footage of your next race :)

Good luck with combe Oli ,i hope your sump is well baffled as i think a trackday there was one of the last nails in the coffin for my old 8v and i was running a well baffled sump nice circuit though it was the first time i had driven it ,was a bit hairy the first bend after the pits where you approach it with the little bump before hand to make the rear end go nice and light:eek:

That looks like good fun Oli, Car sure does look like it goes well in comparison with the subaru, it only really pulls away under accelaration.

As said I'm looking forward to seeing some race footage now :thumb:
