My plans just now are to stitch weld engine bay, re-spray the engine bay, fit Dans old Track engine (1650cc with Webber Carbs and F15 G/Box) Also going to add a few goodies like polybushes, strut brace etc..
Then after that i am going to look into buying 60mm lowering springs or a set of coilovers.

Looking good mate, think i saw you in the van in lockerbie a few weeks turning right at traffic lights to go up lockerbie high street.

13-06-10, 10:36 PM
Dan, i am going to PM you soon regarding the engine..
Ricky, engine is not proper ****ed, it still ran. just rattled like mad, i am pretty sure something was going to let go.had a few 8v's shoot rods through the front of block, was hoping that wasnt going to happen with this one so it can be re-built..
You can buy the whole thing if you want, will need a bottom end re-build though.
Yeah Liam, that would be me. I have been in Lockerbie wuite alot lately..
Cheers for all comments

Could be a 1300 SR engine with 40's if it had an OHC cam cover fitted - Who'd know ;)
I would blank out the chassis number in the pics ;) Seeing as you can see both the reg and chassis number together on a public forum!:thumb:

my last 1600 had the ohc rocker cover and it was spewing oil out the breathers from cam box and back of block..
i think this could of been something to do with fecked piston rings though causing PCV..
someone will know if i need the breather on rocker cover?

Your mate text me the other day, but i accidently deleted his text so lost his number.. can you tell him to text me again and yes i have both f13 and f10 gearboxes down here..
Eventually got the nova on the road! what an animal for a 1600!! I now see what everyone was going on about and same with how much fuel it drinks! it is sooooo much fun though. the noise is unbelievable for a 8v! between 3k and 4k it grunts like a throttle bodied c20xe!lol i love it!

Looks good buddy, the 1600 definatly has a different induction noise on 40s compared to the 1300/1400, makes me want to get mine finished and on the road!
fantastic to hear my old engine is still going strong, and yes it did always sound 'different' even to some other 1600's. Only thing i can see is to get a 4-1 manifold and release its full potential as the current one will be choking the engine :d
Also fuel economy. In its birth place it used to average 30-35mpg with mixed driving. on track it would drop to maybe a lowest of 20mpg which was still quite good. Only difference is the engine has changed minorly and obviously how i had the car setup and my little anal choices with certain things. It kept that even when used as an everyday car for 3 years between tune ups!! upon which it hadnt lost any tune as such. how many of you guys actually had a full rolling road setup which should imo be done after the engine had been in and out of cars etc. The tune of the engine was one thing i always obsessed about and was never happy until it was perfect
Thats why my car was always joked to be run on pixie dust etc etc lol
