got my bottom end on a stand and the bores have some bits of muck and grit in them. whats the best way of cleaning these out and suitable cleaning products??
you might as well hone them while you are there, that will clean them as well.
I used brake cleaner for cleaning all engine internals. Plenty of paper towel although Haynes says to use a 'lint free cloth'

im not honing them cos bores are mint, just bits of crap trapped around the tops of the pistons
Are you fitting new rings?

no, the engine has only done 24,000 and when removing the head a few bits fell down the bores. not much just obviously want to clean them out
