View Full Version : Xe fault code
My car put a ecu light on the other day and flashed it ou this morning to find a code 49 , battery high voltage , have noticed that it does it on overrun more then normal driving , stays on for a couple of seconds then goes off
Had a multi meter across battery before and I'm getting upto 14.5 volts when I let of throttle lol
any sugestions ?
Is the alt overcharging, iirc they can do that when theyre on the way out?

is the alt earted properly ????
if its not earthed properly, surely it won't make much voltage at all??
Regulator on the alt has died, or is dieing, replace the alternator.
If it was earthed wrong, it wouldnt be working better than normal!

14.4v is typical iirc. 12v from a charging alt is under performing.
Sounds like the issue though.

Sounds like a dodgey alt.. Or fit an underdrive pulley toabye slow the over charging down?
lol yeah earths are fine , im thinking that my alt on its way out , or could it be my battery itself ?
dont really want to fry my batt by overcharging it on the way to and from pod lol

You think 14.5 volts is high. A while back, well a good few years ago on the SEH, driving at night we'd all of a sudden get really bright lights, every bulb in the car would just shine so bright even te headlamps. cav headlamps never worked this well lol
Alternator was on it's last legs and charged at 16 volts lol. Totally fried the battery. Lucky nothing else got shocked.
Dodgey alternator highly likely.
