C20let seems to be lumpy on idle. also when warm if driving at around 40-50 at constant speed iy splutters and is very jerky. seems to do it more when warm? cant find any vac leaks etc,??

any ideas?

sounds like crank sensor dropping its feed....

eml is on but this is due to the ftvv not plugged in. can i read codes via the diagnostic port? or is this not possible with the older engine?

yes you should be able to read them !!!!!! just remember when the engine isnt running that it will show fault code 31 (crank sensor) anyway !!! so do it wilth the engine running !!!!
