I'm going to finally realise a log held ambition. Going down to Le mans next weekend.

Hopefully the racing will be close fought and the weather reasonable although true to recent form its dry until the car show season and then it buckets down. lol

Le Mans in the rain is somethingyou have to experience. I think the forecast isnt that great but its not meant to rain for the full 24 hours. Best year i went it rained during the day and was dry at night.

it reminded me of those paintings of the fires of hell, with all the glowing brakes, super hot brake dust, the lights, the noise.....

the smell of the spicy hot dog stalls is everywhere...

and one ear listening to the english commentary. someday soon i'm going to get back there... i was there in 91, 93 and on my honeymoon in 95...

Its an XJR6. Buying one is the easy part. Paying for petrol and repairs is the difficult part. Fuel consumption is insane. I had a fairly involved service including 4 new tyres, all the wheels repaired at pristine wheels at MK, some new springs/shocks, part exhaust etc etc and it cost me over twice what I paid for the fooker:eek:

Loving these older jags is a diseaselol. Its nowhere near the best car I've ever driven but it makes me smile each time i drive it. What can you do - its like having a high maintenance girlfriend

Off topic bit what did you make of the job the did? Im currently waiting on 4 wheels coming back from them, found them very very ssesnible on price for what i wanted. Also one of the lads is on here that works in the workshop!

Welll finally got back intact and without getting tagged by those sneaky fooking gendarme. What a bunch of weasels they are. They've turned hiding on the side of the road into an art form
Where do I start - it was absolutely awesome esp the Pugs which cornered like they were on rails although with them all being so cocky about their chances this year we were quite pleased to see the underdog audis clean up. Best car out there for me was the 7.0l 'vette which was a real thunder saloon- the noise was sublime. Didn't manage to stay awake but I dont think it mattered we got to see plenty.

Had the luck of a lieftime on the way down as 3 ferarris 1 lambo and an m5 gave it large through a tunnel as we went thru with them. It sounded so good i nearly cried!lol

Here are a few pics of the road hardware we encountered:

there is something special about seeing the french getting beaten at leMans..
in '93, a pug 905 hit the painted concrete wall sideways on the porsche curves so hard, you could tell the make, model & number by looking at the wall , during thursday qualifying, and the tub was repaired & race ready for saturday...... now i'm no expert, but from what i saw, that car could not have made the start..... not that the scrutineers were looking the other way or anything...........

but its even better when an underdog wins
