Was there anything in the pickup when you changed it the first time? And how are you resealing the sump when you rebuild it each time?

Mowgli makes a good point, do you know no oil is getting up top or are you just looking at the guage?

Have you actually had the rocker cover off to see if there's no oil, or are you just assuming the tappets rattling means there's no oil?

I would say when the pump failed the first time its damaged the main shells and they arnt holding oil pressure like they should. or a blocked oil way.

i think it cud b blocked oil way if i take it 2 bits and build it back up it works for a while

I would still take off a main cap while you have the sump off to be sure, ive come accross problems like this before, the main bearing back up the oil pressure from the pump, if they are damaged as the engine warms up it will steadily lose oil pressure.

i did the same to an old c20ne, pump failed and ate the shells, fitted a new pump and no pressure to the top end. stripped it, and the bearings were goosed as was the crank. new engine.....
