That is all.

You always find 'the perfect car' then discover something hideously wrong with it :( The current case being a 9-5 (yes sloth will most likely jizz lol) estate, FSSH etc but its got the gheymo 2.0 lpt (150bhp lmao why bother with a terbow) auto engine and box :( crap mpg ahoy...

lol, I mean in the context of its a turbo engine that makes the same power (and possibly torque) as a non turbo'd engine of the same capacity from basically the same company

wtf is the point in that is the engine from the 60s when that would be considered impressive lol

Stuart

errr too juicy :p and out of budget.. plus tbh the toys arent that much 'better' than the Vectors, given its for the wench.

Oh and people who sell the car when you are on the way to see them about it..... just fecking call to say its gone FFS!!!!!!

err look elsewhere then.

I pity you really, I mean all I can afford to run around in is an F reg 1.2 Nova. What I'd give to be in your position.

Stuart

and we are trying to find an affordable to run estate to haul crap around in thats not too pre 2000 as most estates of that era are dire.

oh and no VAG stuff, no BMW's as the engines are silly delicate at the age/miles/budget, no mercs due to mega rust (worse than novas), no french, no Itallian as their idea of an estate has a smaller boot than the saloon version, jap stuff is mostly out of budget, so that leaves Veccy/mk5 astra estates, signums and now added to the list she will drive the 9-5 lol

note all on the list are "cheap" to buy

E39 5 series Touring FTW.

My 523i (2.5 Petrol) will happily do 35mpg all day and if nursed, close to 40mpg. Come with great trim spec as standard and are all relitively cheap.

Go Mtec Diesel and you wont be disappointed.

E39 means what in years?

I dont do E Numbers.

Mind you if the dash looks anything like an X plate 3 Series I looked at, then its vomit central lol

stu, if this is the wifeys car for sprog transportation, why are you looking at stuff like saabs???? a decent 5 door with a nice little turbo diesel engine or a mini mpv is more in order.... kids just filth up interiors, so you need cleanable vinyl.....

What is the budget Stu?

Someone on the mondeo forums bought a non-runner for £350, towed it around the corner, changed the battery and then drove it to Poland and back :D

You can pick up 2001-2003 models for £1-2k

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201022360349585/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/2000/fuel-type/diesel/maximum-age/up_to_10_years_old/model/mondeo/make/ford/postcode/ll138be/radius/60/page/2?logcode=p

Another possible bargain. (http://www.fordmondeo.org/forum/showtopic.php?tid/836551/post/new/#NEW)

she wont do an mpv (and I refuse to buy one anyway)
We want a nice big boot for shizzle.
And shes almost as picky as me about cars lol

So Veccy C estate, MK5 Astra Estate, Signum and 9-5 Estate are on the cards. And whatever we get will be run into the ground so dont really give a toss about Amber trashing the thing :)

£3.5K (ideally £3K so we can also get astroturf for the garden), and my god those Mundaneos are coma inducing (I know GM's arent that exciting but there are limits lol)

but tbh I was having more of a rant about the general act of car hunting that you never seem to get all the boxes ticked lol

I have always found when hunting for a car, pick 1 thing you 100% want and go for that. Choosing from 2 or 3 just makes finding what you want harder. IMO.

Oh and lol you are a fussy one!!

Actually having another car make/model to be 'okayed' makes life easier as if a good one of any of the 4 comes up then its win... better odds than 1 of 3 :)

Fair enough...you dont seem to be finding any good ones though lol

Stuart
07-06-10, 09:38 PM
Found a good 9-5.... just its a fuel whore lol
Found a lovely Siggy, but its being sold by a dodgy scumbag
Found a good 9-5 dev, but was sold by a fecker before we got there
Found a few other good ones that just that one little nigglewith them....

thats the rant, its a hateful experience... even when buying a £50 nova you'd find a load that just have one thing that pisses you off to stop you from buying it

Cant disagree with you TBH. It is a nightmare when looking for a new car.
