Was a cracking day to go and fetch the 888!
Its a bit late in the year due to sorting out getting rid of the shell and getting the new Sport collected but needed to get it back ready for Billing.
Set off early this morning for a 2 hour drive up the A1 to collect it from where I left it last October.
Big thanks to Royston who has looked after it for the past 7 months and kept the battery charged. It started first time & ran like a dream all the way home and managed to hit the massive figure of 6,000 miles on the way lol

Need to get it MOT'd next week then serviced & cleaned up ready for the missus to drive it to Billing as I'm taking the Sport.

At the risk of being a bit controvertial I really dont see the appeal of these!

I always see the coupe as a late calibra - the 888 has an odd spoiler and 'interesting' interior, which doesnt do anything for me!

At least it will be worth more than a calibra! lol

Sweet, really like Astra Coupes especially the 888. I myself prefer the standard front headlights but either way still a lovely car.

I prefer the standard lights aswell that's why I am replacing them soon. Also have a brand new boot lid ready for painting to de-spoiler it as I prefer the clean lines of the coupe with no spoiler fitted.
Yes its a rare car, one of 100 built and this is number nine. Its made more special by the ridiculously low mileage which was in the main part due to the first owner only doing 1400 in the first 3 years. Want to leave it standardish to retain its value to a certain extent plus it doesn't need modding as its good enough as is

theirs one of these round the corner from me and the whole o/s front bumper is held together with duct tape, kerb'd wheels all round and generally not very well looked after

Thats why I have bought a new genuine bootlid so I can keep the original to just bolt back on as required.

Can i ask why you don't use it more?

Newer VX cars have much better rust protection so that should need to be worried about.

I dont think rust is the issue, the low miles must mean this car is worth more than a 100k one, even if inside and out there in exactly the same condition.

I do fecking love this car though.

I bought the 888 to use everyday as I got fed up of waiting for the company car I was promised. I searched for a decent one and this came up in North wales where my mate lives, he went to look at it for me and told me it was like brand new, even had the nobbly bits on the tyres still. I bought it and started using it everyday for work then I got offered a company car. I did some sums and it worked out cheaper to keep this and run a company car than to use the 888 everyday which was good as its the best car I have owned so could not bare to part with it.
So I get to use & abuse a brand new BMW everyday whilst this cheap old Vauxhall gets treated like a museum piece lol

I see you have found a use I havent yet thought of the foam boards from work Rich, I use them for allsorts! lol .........Although Ive never been a fan of large spoilers I think they suit the 888 tbh the only thing Id change is the lights Rich. Looking forward to seeing it again soon.

Nick.

Me too, just wish they had fitted the 4 pot Alcons & increased power output as per mk5 888. Having said that the engine is so smooth & torquey, it feels faster than standard aswell although 888 said the power was untouched. I think someone on AS had their standard 888 rolling roaded and the power was at 213 bhp, a lot higher than the 192 bhp or so of the early Z20LET's.

I use my 888 everyday - sod keeping it concours, its built to be driven!

The one thing I would do is try and source a new steering wheel; the previous owner of mine must have had sandpaper hands!

Wouldn't remove the spoiler though Rich, it'd just look like any other coupe then.
