you dont know a man who can cut holes in toughened galss ;)

i inquired about this a few weeks ago with a few glass companys i use, i really want to do this my self. You cant drill a hole in toughned glass (trust me i tried last week and the window ****ing explodes) (i already knew this but as always wanted to see it my self lol )

in order to get holes put in a standard window the glass will have to re heated in a kiln, holes cut and then re toughned in the kiln again. This cost £350 a hole and has a 50% chance of smashing into a million pieces and putting the machine out of action for 24 hours. Not only that, they can only do it on flat Glass not curved like the rear windows.

Nobody in the uk makes curved toughned glass so you cant even get any made eaither

the next option in laminated, you can buy the curved glass and drill the holes in it but again to buy the corect glass/drilling/cutting you will be looking at £350/500 a window. Also there is a very high chance they will crack with the vibration of the car.

i gave up on the idear after and will probaly end up with polly carb ones :thumb:

warm them in a big enough oven/heater until soft, fold around a jig and let them go hard again :d

the thing is the nova ones only have 1 hole and the tabs act as hindges as per photo.

They come up for sale often enough, and not for stupid money really, I got some earlier in the year for a hundred quid, is it really worth fooking about making costum ones?

Seen a few sets forsale laterly.

It getting a complete set as you need different window seals, hinges and brackets.

I bought mine for around £250 IIRC. Got the full set. Rubbers, hinges, everything.

is it really worth shelling out that sort of money for the benefit of rear passengers? when lets face it,most of you will rarely have them if ever.I know i never will.
And another thing,it isnt exactly far from the back seats to the doors is it lol Just another pub spec like headlight protectors lol
There is however an easier way-Buy a 4/5 door.Rear opening windows as standard.

Also means the air flows thru the car better. Meaning you don't have that drowning when driving with the windows down.

Glass is the easy bit to get, its the opening levers that are the hard bit to get. I had to wait for ages to get mine & have been told there are no more at all. I tried knocking up some out of bits from various other cars but nothing worked. Seals were a bitch to get aswell although Kia Pride seals are a perfect fit.
B pillar plugs for the hinges can be got off Ebay.de and the rest of the screws etc from Mk 2 Astras/Daewoo's/Mantas.
I have got a full set plus spares which took me ages to collect and TBH I cant bring myself to fit them to my new Sport. But I will never sell them, so nobody PM me please. Yes, I am one of those hoarders!
