Are on good offer at the moment, so if you still aren't prepared for the show season it might be worth a look:

I'm sure thats the one tesco had on offer recently, and was pretty shonky quality. Although all that for £89 can't be bad

Tents being a PITA are/is the reason we arent staying over at Billing now :(

Boo :( was looking forward to much humour involving tents, erecting, poles, etc

Stuart- stay in a hotel :p

Jack- I don't know much about tents but when we nipped into Halfords earlier I saw the discount and thought it looked pretty good. Ours is a brilliant one from Go Outdoors but we've only used it twice. Love camping too!

my rule on tents is simple...... if it says 4 person, then 2 real.......people fit in it... that one on the halfords site is very telling, the adults are crouching down near it.. it is not going to be much fun for anyone much taller than 5'3"

i think the models are probably the same ones as in dfs ads to make the settees look huge

sorry, accidental duplication

Stay a little while down the road then. Mmmmm, Thai dinner and a hot shower are the best bits about Billing!

i'm not sure your little un is old enough for the whole camping at billing experience

True, plus the design is naff - the sleeping areas are 150cm deep but about 1/3 of that will be unusable as the sides of the tent come down quite tight

Tentzilla ftw :d

19 months old... she will love it lol
We went to a go outdoors store and she was running round the tents like a loon :)

Lynz, what other hoe-tel options are there at Billing? Dont want to have to travel far, plus we'd be 'gone' from Billing itself by 7:30 at the latest due to small persons sleep time

jack, that is tiny, i went for the dutchbarn type like baxter, it is 40' long & would sleep about 15 easily. it was meant to be for 8

i highly recommend this tent to anyone, it is genuinly comfortably a 4 man, im just under 6ft and can stand up in it properly and can put it up by meself in 10-15 mins depending on how windy it is lol, i even put it up in the dark at the second national show

Hotels around that area are going to be charging top whack that weekend anyway, thats even if there are still any rooms in the surrounding 10 miles that still have rooms!

if i ran a hotel near there, i'd charge way over the odds to anyone who thinks the word innit must be said in every sentence

As far as the last VBOA meeting went, they were bloody lucky to get the usual rates so even Billing have huge pound signs ringing up in their eyeballs this year.

i have a gelert 8 man, and a gelert 4 man. the 4 fits a double sleeping bag, the 8 has x2 2 man pods, and a main 4 man area. thats coming to pvs this year.

Jack

I'd be inclined to recommend a small tent for PVS tbh, its a smaller target for the handbrake burnout brigade lol

The Tesco ones are sh*te. 4 of the seams on mine where comming apart after Billing last year, and the zip came off.

In the tent world paying a bit more and getting a better make is a must.

I got this badboy for this year.. Its FRIGGING huge! Really well made too.

If you look at the price of the static caravans on the billing site you see they nearly quadruple in price for the billing weekend lol

They are nearly free the rest of the year.

The Premier Inn had consistent prices but no rooms :(

well i've just been out and sorted myself one for a change (borrowed bossmans last few years) looked around and the halfords deals were ok for sure, seen an ideal one up by cirencester but they were out of stock, so carried on upto swindon to 'go outdoors'. I dont like their principle and pressure selling to have one of their cards etc.

Basically they have a deal on that if you find the same tent cheaper they will match it, then take another 10% off. The one i had liked was cheaper in the other shop and i didnt need a gay card so i mentioned this, the manager rang said shop to confirm, kept the company word and i didnt have to take the loyalty card thing either, Bargain :d

so little old me will be camping down in this badger, with decent head height and decent daytime shelter not being a problem.
