They were about, bit literally just on sale. An engine was out of the question cost wise I think, but Courtenayhad previously been turbo'ing XE's anyway. I dare say the KKK was added in much the same way the Count has got his hands on a Corsa VXR turbo. Not that expensive as a part.
I've read up a lot of stuff about A16V over the years & chatted to John Shield & Mark Watts quite a bit.

im affraid i dont really understand, i purchased genuine vauxhall pistons/rods/turbo ect for the corsa vxr engine to use on my 1600, was this not an option back when this car was built ???

Does look stunning, imo only thing that lets it down are the 6x9 in the front door cards. Amazing to think it was build all those years ago.

your missing the point. in the article it says that jon and chris at courtenay had a bet, if jon fitted the xe chris would turbo it. when it was built the let hadnt come out, so it was turbo an xe or nothing. then a year later the let came out, jon fitted the kkk and loom and ecu from one. :thumb:
