Hey up chaps:d

Picking that engine up tommorow, and I have noticed the manifold is covered in surfece orange:cry:

I saw Rickardo's manifold glow cherry red after a 30 second dyno run, so i assume flat out on track/private land etc it will just incinerate paint etc?

Does anyone know of a coating that wont tarnish?

Black ideally, but I don't want it to fade away to graylol

Is it a stainless manifold? If so, polish it maybe?

not likely mate just try and wire brush/clean it up a bit

although..

high temp paint does say rated to 700degrees... unsure how hot a glowing red manifold is though lol

Bang some BBQ paint on it.

glowing red is usually 500ish. id look at ceramic coatings bud. or try plastikote bbq paint. ive used it on cast manis and its ok.

BBQ paint may work lol, hmm, 500degrees seems a tad warm, especially as the boost hoses are hose not metal lol

remember the super duper hi temp paint really proved itself on those space shuttles, didn't it????

you just can't paint exhausts

No paint will survive on a turbo manifold.
Stainless or Ceramic coat

Let it glow, at least you can see it.

It impresses the ladies Matt. :thumb:

Lads in work recon they use a 1600 degree paint.

Surely that will do it?

Ceramic coating. Anything else is just FAIL with a capital PH

Hope you got a nice fat wallet ;) £200+ of ceramic coating in that picture alone. EXCLUDING the rest of exhaust system & rear box.

I'd just leave it bare or stick a heat shield over it. Funk painting it. Would much rather see it glow orange tbh.

I bet you wont. Ceramic coating is a specialist job, im talking PROPER specialist, not some back street engineering firm working in old money.
