My girl friend has just passed her test and we went to look at a 47,000 mile corsa b premier yesterday and it was 100% mint with FSH etc etc and I drove it and was pleasantly suprised how nicely it drove exept for when i had to turn a corner lol... The steering was REALLY tight and it spun back really quickly .... obviously we didn't get the car as the asking price was way to high and he wouldn't budge, but for future refrence what is the likley cause for this?? It was non powersteering but I had EXACTLY the same motor before I got my Nova SR and although it didn't have P/S it was no where near this heavy/tight!! I first thought it could be tires but it didn't make sense ?? Any ideas ppl? Thanks evryone !! Matt
Wrong camber could cause it, so might have been in a light shunt.
make sure the tyre pressues are right, then take it to a wheel alignment place to get them to check all geometry (caster, camber, toe etc).
ive just had this with mine exact same thing steering rack was loose! Take it to a kwik fit place like i did they get it on there 1 man testing bay and it moves the car beyond anything a human could do and you will spot the problems right off!

Had this issue with the epas ecu being funked.
Could possible be this?

Maybe thats just Corsa B's for you. The mother-in-law had one that had stupidly heavy steering for no apparent reason.
EPAS faults usualy are only hard one way.
My corsa's have all been light on the steering.

Any money its got an EPAS coloumn ;) loads of people assume because theres no fluid tank for powersteering, then it hasnt got ;)
Faulty EPAS makes turning left a reet bitch :( done 20k in my 12volt with a broked coloumn with no issues at all tho.
Im sure premier is pre 97, might be wrong.

Thankyou;)
If it's a premier it won't have ePas, '99 onwards for the epas column.
