i was impressed by the way it done it on its own haha
electronics, inlet manifold & injection.............. and the heads are a bit different
ones eco ones not lol
but you can just remove the EGR valve from the inlet and exhaust on the x16xe iirc
Also c16xe's are harder to find than x16xe's

ECO is the crappest word the marketing people ever came up with............ it means pretty much nothing... it causes people to spend vast fortunes on 20 year old engines in the belief that somehow they are better than newer ones.....
basically, the engine is 99% the same....... but the emissions crap is different.
im just alittle confused about getting the write engine for my car, i want the same engine that in it at the mo so its a simple straight swap as im no mechanic and the engine is running a kms loom and engine management and has custom shafts and mounts

ive found an engine from a 1997 tigra 1.6 ecotec, will this be compatible? cheers
Id say that is X16XE, but without seeing it, cant help.
As the engine isnt standard, who knows what mash up of parts it is.
how can you tell its not standard apart from the loom?
The inlet that you can see on your engine would be black plastic if it is a C16XE engine (although this could have been changed) The C16xe was produced from 94-95.
The x16xe has a cast metal inlet.
