Me and a mate have been working on this on and off as his budget daily driver. Its a lovely browny colour Capri 2.0S.

The Pinto was pretty knackered after doing the PPC £999 challenge and putting a lot of nitrous through it and he wanted something on injection that started well when cold etc. He has seen all the XE cars i've owned so decided to go for it.

It has cost the price of the XE plus a Yukspeed winged sump and bell housing to mate to a Ford box and thats about it so its obviously not the tidiest swap or tidiest car to start with.

Wiring was straight forward as are all XE swaps. The Ford oil pressure guage feed screwed straight into turbo oil feed that is blanked off on the XE and the temp gauge fitting screwed straight into the XE thermostat housing.

We made the engine mounts but are dubious about whether the standard Ford rubbers are up to the job as the engine has a little more side to side movement than wanted.

Only major issue was the brake servo fouled the inlet manifold so have had to run a servoless master cylinder off a mk2 Escort.

Pics of the engine swap but not took any of the car as yet as its just a scratched rusty B reg Capri and probably wouldn't interest much on here.

what do you do about ignitoon coilpack etc?

It just uses all the XE stuff for that and then you just join the same wires you would when converting a Nova really.

All reet guys, i'm the guilty party of Lee's mate, converted to the dark side of Vauxhall's power plants, although shown him the light side with Toyota's!

and Lee, shut it you tart!

Pics as requested, please bear in mind it's been hidden in a garage for faaaar to long now under boxes & tools etc living without much love & attention! A good buff up & it'll be as good as new (if it came scratched & rusty from new)

Balls, maybe not, can't link to other sites untill i've made 15 posts! d'oh!

Pretty sure you can work out to remove the spaces from after the http

Ay, correct mate. Not sure of it's original origins, I bought it 2nd hand but un-used off oldskoolford forum. Fits a treat though, thankfully, and with a bit of MiG work to add a flange, meets up a treat to the stock Capri exhaust, didn't even have to take rest of system off the car!

Have you booked that MOT yet? Want to get all the RWD sheds together at some point soon being this, Andys Beemer and my MR2.

MR2 is being picked up tomorrow night for the exhaust to be done Friday so weekend test run for me I guess.

 love a nice old skool ford !

Sadly, as I said, it "did" look tidy but too long in garage unloved has taken it's toll. I'm not overly concerned with it's looks too much as long as the thing moves well, pencilled in to go to the ring in it beginning of next month! Lol

engine wise, I got it off one of lee's mates. Steve boy slim possibly?? Afaik, it's fully arp'd and new lifters etc. So should be a nice solid stock engine. Well, with obvious power cap as standard air box wouldn't fit!

Engine came from Jonlem.

MR2 didn't get collected tonight so weekend a no go, not impressed and doubt the exhaust place will be either.

Collected? Who by? Webuyanycar.com from 10p to £100,000?

Lee H

Would be a definite 10p for the MR2. Local garage meant to collect it and take it to the exhaust place but didn't turn up.
