View Full Version : Metal sump on an XE?

I know this has been asked before but dont know if its had a concrete answer so if i fit a metal sump off a big block 1.8/2.0 8v would i need the sump pickup pipe too or is the XE item the same and would i need different bolts or the XE ones.:thumb:

i put a 2.0 8v steel sump on my old xe damen with no hassle same pickup etc

Sound mate what bolts did you use normal XE ones wardy?

Am consider changing it as its leaking and im scared of cracking it on the floor as the front ends that low!

no shorter ones about 16mm long iirc, and the bonded sump gasket at the time also

So i could use the 8v bolts an is it the rubber bonded one that the 8v's have mate?

yeah the 8v one and i just got some bolts from local bike shop,5mm allen head ones in stainless 16mm long and i think there m8 thread.take an original with you and match em up

Auto vaux sell the 2.0 8v shorter bolts with the correct gasket for £37 delivered

if youre fitting a tin sump, youd really need an oil cooler, the alu sump does alot to cool the oil. might get away with itnon a road car xe tho.

ive just removed the cooler aswell lol but its only a daily so would i be ok without one?
