The 1300 i have in at the minute sounds like its seen better days, so the plan is to build up an engine ready for when it goes bang.
I would like to fit some 12ST pistons into another 1300 bottom end so this will require the block boring out to suit, and possibly a crank regrind depending on condition.
How much should i expect to pay to have this work done and any recommended places in Yorkshire region?? also are main and big-end bearings available in oversizes to suit reground cranks??
At my work iirc a engine rebore and rehone and the crank reground is £350. But a fair distance away from yorkshire lol
Thats dear! 80overbore, 90 grind, bout 40 bearings, wel thats about what i charge.

I would ring AMAC at Northallerton, used him for my Range Rover engine re sleeving, he also balanced my 1.3SR engine.
He is well known locally, has many years of experience building race engines, but also does any type of engine, tractor-car, etc.
If I need advice, he's the one I ring;)

90 quid at foxwood engineering near me for a reground and balance crank
you will need to get the piston crowns pocketed to lower the compression.... or you'll be running it at 11.5:1

rich, got to AMAC at northallerton, thats who i have my parts done by, or if you dont want to have to go that far then use ashby-anderson's which is part of search's place over dragon's bridge near ringways.

do they need to be pocketed or can i stick them on lathe and skim the tops?
when i did mine, i actually took it down in the centre. there is a dish with 2 valve pockets. i went down from the edge of the dish about 5mm, with a radiussed corner. the engineer never charged me for doing them cos he was scared of them breaking, but i was just copying what i'd seen in a magazine article, but i did do all the maths to check. i was going for 10:1cr, what would you be aiming for?

probably around the same as i want to be able to run it on poverty-spec fuel lol so were they done using a milling machine and a radiused cutter to make the bowls deeper?? I dont quite get what you mean
You have rep Mowgli :thumb:
as far as i know, he used a lathe. it was in 1991, and i have drunk rather a lot since then
