diesel power sounds fine in our 12 litre scania, and our 9litre john deeres. remember, audi have been winning le mans with diesel power, and need to keep the marketing up to date

Don't get me wrong, it's not as good as a petrol, but not as naff as you'd think for a V10 twin turbo diesel. I've driven both the phaeton and touareg with the v10 and they're impressive!
think of it another way. its not as loud as a ferrrari or lambo, so the rozzers won't hear you coming

and yea mowgli i supose that would be a good point lol the rozzers hear me from miles away now with the 40's

That R8 just proves that Audi can do good things with diesel. As Mowgli said they have won Le Mans with TDI engines!!
Id happily have a Diesel performance car

id say they cheat though as the petrol engines have to be naturally aspirated if they were blown the diesles would get nailed!!!

Not necessarily mate, youve clearly not driven anything newer and TD have you

yea quite a few lol loads off merc's ect but petrol ftw lol but yea if they were blown the pety engines would destroy the dirty diesels!!
Merc's are babba, im talking audi and veedub TDi's, proper example Seat Ibiza FR, 1.9TDi and 160bhp, they really really shift, trust me :p
A well tuned 1.9 petrol turbo would probably annihilate it though.

Exactly my point, thats a tuned engine versus a manufacturer standard one, i mean std v std :p

my works van is on par with my xe nova lol

No, I mean well tuned from the factory. I doubt a 1.8TDi would give my dad's S3 much of a push.
[edit] As for the Leon example:
Leon FR 1.9TDi
146bhp, 236 lb-ft, 0-60: 8.6, 134mph
Leon FR 1.8 20vT
177bhp, 173 lb-ft, 0-60: 7.5, 142mph
Smaller engine in the petrol, less torque but more power and a faster 0-60/top speed. No doubt as the petrol doesn't run out of gears like the derv would lol

most modern diesels can be tuned via remap/tuining boxes with impressive results & still good on fuel .onlly problem is clutch/flywheels take abit of a battering with increased torque
Mine will rev to 6500 rpm,... not bad for a DERV
And after have tw c14se corsa's and 2 Td nova's. I know which one I would always rather have!!
