right heres the deal, i turn 25 on the 18th of june which means a worthwhile cut from my insurance, however i need to be insured to go to pv, normally i would use temp cover but i also need to tax it which you cant do with a temp cover certificate. so heres the plan, all those who pay monthly, i need you to dig out your terms and conditions and see how much if at all they charge you for cancelling in the first 14 days. if i can find one that doesnt charge or charges a small fee then i can tax my car and drive to pv all legally and then cancel it once i get home :d

i know this is possible as my brother did the same a few years ago and was insured for two weeks for £30 technically

Just get a mate that owns a garage to put the garage down as owning it on log book... take the form they use to tax a car without insurance and bobs ya auntie.

That's what i did to get my tax and insurance on the same day.

That any help?

i also need to tax it which you cant do with a temp cover certificate
Fail. You can use temporary cover to tax a car.

The problem arises in finding a company that will post you the docs, as most post offices get grinchy about accepting printed documents.

the company that me and porter are with will post and email the temp docs

Agreed, i've taxed a car on a temp cert before. Good printer ftw!
However, when i took out my last full insurance on the olop, they wanted another 15 quid to post me some docs, so i kept the 15 quid and printed them off myself, post office never batted when i taxed it.

I thought most cover gave you 14 days to reply and it you weren't happy within the 14 days you could cancel.

most insurance companies have stopped the 14 day cancellation period to stop people doing exactly what you want to I'm afraid. As said you can get tax on a temp cover note as long as its 30 days.

If you speak to us it is unlikely you will be charged any extra for being aged 24 as you are so close to your 25th birthday, I would assume the same could be said for other specialists. Maybe try getting some quotes and then give me a shout and I'll see what we can do?
