View Full Version : Help me fit and adjust solid top mounts... please.

Got some eccentric top mounts today. Before I fit them I would like as much advice and tips on adjusting them as possible.

Before I go into adjusting them just got a couple of questions.

- What size sleeve nut do I need to get? (suspension is spax rsx)

- Does the flat side of the top mount face down or up?

Now then, setting them up. I want to run little camber and appropriate caster to match, it would be even better if I can have caster only because I don't want to ruin my R888s but I don't think thats possible.

I have mine at roughly 1 o'clock on that side in order to correct the camber from lowering it so it doesn't kill my tyres. Also gives positive caster which is what you want.

To get full adjustment you would have to run them the other way up as they don't fit through the hole in the turret. However that places the weight of the car on the circlip holding the bearing in which I wouldn't fancy. Mine are the old style TAS ones so are made to go the other way up and still have the circlip at the bottom.

One more question.

If I decide to get it aligned properly what figures should I tell the garage to adjust to for a 'fast road' car.

For example what degree (pos/neg) is advised for toe, camber and caster?

build book tarmac settings seem to do the job nicely.

'fast road' setup is bullsheets.

mines are fitted this way, it has about -2° camber
