timing a later type XE

Obviously know about the timing marks, never timed a later type XE or have a haynes that tells me how to use the tensioner pulley at the bottom. any ideas?
also on the big end caps which way does the lug point. flywheel or cambelt?

6mm allen key into the tensioner and turn it around anticlockwise so the pointer is to the right of the 'v' marking. nip the middle bolt up and turn the engine over a couple of times so the marks all line up and see where the pointer sits. Should sit slightly to the right of the 'new belt' marking. IF its dropped back past retention and turn engine over again.

Once its set do the middle bolt up properly, turn the engine over again to make sure after as tightening the middle bolt somtimes puts more tension on it
