My sister has STUPIDLY bought a pug 206 GTI much against my will lol when she asked my opinion i said shes better off buying a bloody Chrysler! but anywho

The car personally to me is showing signs of electrical fault but the prev owner put a stupid air filter on it, which isnt working, so when the car got hot, it cut out.

Also wasnt starting up! but then left it did, like my nova.....which is now working as it was the transformer thing. im convinced this is whats up with sisters car!

her mates ****ed around with the idol making it idol over 1,000 rpm and it was happily sitting around 900 rpm......now the car is limited to 50mph and will not go over!

any ideas?

1. use a dictionary, its idle...........
2. take it to a peugeot specialist
3. calm down, sisters always buy a different car to what you tell them

Doesn't the 206 use ODBII? Plug it in and see what the engine is crying about

she had a bmw before.... it was down grading

I am dyslexic so unfortunately a dictionary isnt always the best route to take! thus if my laptop doesn't say its wrong i dont think it is! so

DO ONE (in the nicest possible way :) )

Is there a pretty orange light lit up on the dash?

limiting to 50 will be part of the limp mode.
I suggest taking it to anywhere with OBD-II kit and reading out any faults it thinks it has then do a reset after fixing the reason for the fault.

not all modern cars are a pain ;) them telling you whats wrong and still getting you where you want to go is rather handy at times :p

yep engine management comes on, she was turning the car off and on again to get it to go off! lol

lol! i cant say alot i used to do it with my celica, but even had it tested and came up with nothing, just came on if i floored it but then went off again if i went over 90

i really do want to say i told you so though, it raised eye brows the day i saw it
its also a cat D write off

aslong as its been repaired properly then why does cat D matter....

really sounds like a very very very large dose of sour grapes that shes got a newer car than you... get over it.

because i personally dont think it has!

and having a six year old, a two year old and another on the way...... i wouldnt chance it tbh the guy she bought it off is the guy whos played about with it causing it to not go over 50.

puft i dont want a new car loL! im happy with the nova! only reason i consider selling is due to the miles i do :)

i love having a car that i can just head down the scrappy and get parts, can drive like a dick and it lets me! i got rid of my 07 plate fiesta because i hated it! so no sour grapes, apples, or pomegranates here anything newer than 2000 i aint interested!

not to mention i would rather buy my self a new horse than get a new car!

I'd sooner have a dodgy post 2K car than a nova for kids to go in :p but thats by the by.

She needs to get it to someone who does diagnostics, and also some sort of inspection to ensure its ok.. Cat D is usually just cosmetic anyway so it should atleast drive straight (allbeit slow lol)

i still worry, thats all it is! i worry to much about them! i know how i drive and i drive with others in mind! so do it when theres space but not every one does!

i hope she does what shes told this time and gets it done properly! but she is going to spend more than what she will get back as the damage is still on the car, it never got replaced! so she's doing it! i wouldnt have them in a nova either! or a french car lmao!

i buy salvage cars all the timeand alot of 'cat d's' have very minor damage.

i.e. maybe just replace a bumper...wing..headlight .. u sorta get the idea.

my sister had a 206 and it done her well, just bring the car to a garage who will put it on a computer and see wat faults come up.

rather then moan at ur sister, explain things to her and get the car driving rite, for safety issues aswell.

Celica doesn't use ODBII (unless it was a G7?), probably picking up a fault with TVIS or something.
