Just to make sure on assembly of the rods and crowns do the do the arrows on the crowns and the lugs on the bottom cap of the rod point towards the flywheel or the timing belt?

Arrows have to point at number 1 cylinder, so cambelt end

Got yourself straight again after our last thread on cylinder numbering and firing orders then lol I'm still not sure, I'm just gonna guess when I put the next engine in lol

The lugs on the rods point to the flywheel I believe.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong as this is how I interpreted Haynes and assembled mine lol Check your XE Haynes and it'll say something about it.

Piston arrow points to cambelt end
Small round bump half way up conrod points to flywheel end
Additional material on cap points to flywheel end

dont have an XE haynes, have a cavalier with the early type engine which is fine, but it does say anything about the engine in great detail, need a calibra one to be honest. and i need a later type one, because im not entirely sure how to time the late type one?
Help on timing later type and which way the lug on the big end cap goes (flywheel or cambelt)?
